Rules (2024-08-30)

  1. This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
  2. No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
  3. Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
  4. No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
  5. Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
  6. If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
  7. Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in other communities.
  8. Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
  9. No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
  10. Always provide context with posts: Don't post uncontextualized images or videos, and don't start discussions without giving some context first.

(This list may get expanded as necessary.)

Posts that link to the following sources will be removed

Unless they're the only sources, please also avoid The Sun, Daily Mail, any "thinktank" type organization, and non-Lemmy social media (incl. Substack). Don't link to Twitter directly, instead use xcancel.com. For Reddit, use old:reddit:com

(Lists may get expanded as necessary.)

Ban lengths, etc.

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.

If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.

If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the admin that applied the rule (check modlog first to find who was it.)

Let's hope Trump will be under Greenland's control instead. :P

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 4 points 15 hours ago

Oh I see delusions starting to repeat themselves. Probably going to start going on about injecting bleach again any day now

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Everything trump ever said was nothing but sensationalist headline fodder. Did anything change in the last week?

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Wrong.

Half the time it's that and the other half it's dementia.

(Hopefully had you on the first half :) )

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

He forbids his team of physicians to publish that diagnostic. See, I'm such a nice person that because of that, I'll assume he's perfectly healthy.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 15 hours ago

He's the healthiest person of all of the people who repeatedly taken ~~dementia~~ IQ tests.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 3 points 18 hours ago
  • "Are you sure I should say this, sir?"
  • "Yes, comrade."
[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 45 points 1 day ago (1 children)

he also said...

  • Iran would take 2 weeks

  • Gas prices would be cheaper

  • The economy would be better

  • he was a "stable genius"

  • Biden and Obama were the worst presidents in history

  • he's not a pedophile

And he's 0-6 on all those.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 6 points 19 hours ago

But he can still start a war

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago

Great news for Greenland. A trump "guarantee" is typically the assurance of the opposite

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Which wont happen because he will probably fall asleep and die at the desk soon.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

When he finally does die they'll refuse to admit it for about three months and just sort of Weekend at Bernie's him. Will probably try and pass off a bunch of unconvincing AI video as evidence of his aliveness.

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

I dont know. I think noone would believe hes still alive if he doesnt show some presence for more than a day, given how much of an attention whore he is. Remember when he had COVID and had to show off driving around?

Trump can't even control his bowels, let alone Iran.

Starting a war with NATO would end the USA right now.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 4 points 14 hours ago

I'm reasonably confident that if trump actually gave the order it would probably result in a military coup. He's not popular with the generals after he got them all together, pulling many of them from assignments overseas, just to insult them for no readily apparent reasons.

Now that he’s provided a timeline I know the loser won’t do it

[–] Ibuthyr@feddit.org 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would buy it but I wouldn't... Wait what's the one on the right??

[–] TDCN@feddit.dk 7 points 1 day ago

Here you go "sex in a bottle" Its a great Danish brewery. Haven't tried those beers tho.

In other news, Trump spouted more meaningless shit that doesn't make the Epstein files go away.

[–] joecitizen@piefed.ca 39 points 2 days ago (13 children)

Yanks, can you do something about this guy or what?

I am SOO fucking sorry man. I country is turning into a real pile of shit and I absolutely hate every second of it.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 29 points 2 days ago (46 children)

Sorry. A lot of people thought Harris was just as bad and don't like elections. Also, the quality of marksmanship has gone down significantly.

For a country obsessed with guns everyone is a lousy shot. Unless it’s a school.

If I were Denmark, I’d be producing a f*%k-ton of naval drones and missiles.

[–] Muffi@programming.dev 7 points 1 day ago

We did the opposite, and just blew our military budget on American fighter jets instead (I wish I was kidding).

[–] Cornballer@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

He’ll try but it won’t be given willingly and Bibi won’t let him try and take it. If he tries he will fail

[–] Iusedtobeanalien@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (5 children)

The military won't invade a NATO member

The residents won't ever be part of the USA

Ronald Lauder of EstΓ©e Lauder wants Greenland https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/15/ronald-lauder-billionaire-donor-donald-trump-ukraine-greenland

Trump needs to be removed before he can pardon his allies
