The fact that he is calling it super intelligence suggests that he is a trump Trump stooge trying to push for Trump and Trump loyalists (or seeming loyalists) to be in charge.

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

As is the whole GenAI community and its surrounding Rationalist/Effective Altruism/Zizian nutcake weirdos.

[–] farmgineer@nord.pub 2 points 4 days ago

He's a billionaire so it's in his interest to pander to the people who will cut his bills so he can acquire more money and power. I say send him to the US, preferably human cannonball style.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Anyone who says superintelligence should not be taken seriously

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Well, with one caveat - if they are someone talking about ASI (artificial super intelligence) and AGI (artificial general intelligence), etc.

That's probably why it annoys me so much - it's only going to confuse things.

AGI and ASI are things. Things that have been debated and discussed. For years and years.

And now Grandpa Pussygrabber comes along and signs some stupid EO about renaming AI as SI.

Nick Bostrom has to be endlessly facepalming right about now...

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 19 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Well now with donnie dumbass going and trying to rename a well-known thing means we don't know if this guy is bending the knee to donnie and talking about AI, or talking about ASI.

🙄

[–] CobraChicken3000@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

be thankful he didn't name it Trump Intelligence

If he did itd at least be accurate to the general content of AI slop.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 4 points 4 days ago

He's talking about the rebranded AI. Why? Because ASI wouldn't be "in the wrong hands", by definition it would be determining things. Dangerous, but for a whole other reason. AI as we have it now, not intelligent, is dangerous in the wrong hands. And right now, it's in lots of wrong hands. Good luck everyone.

Don't use the idiot Trump's stupid marketeering framing.

[–] DigDoug@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Given how much he invested in WeWork, I don't think this guy is qualified to talk about intelligence of any kind.

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well, the WeWork thing wasn’t half half as bad as the money burning Slop Machine.

Wework had an interesting if not scalable idea, it could be worked in the right market if they basically turned it into temporary autoshops or machining workshops. Need a place to do business for a day or two then rent it keep it clean and you don't need long term leases or anything, problem was they didn't go for that niche all that well and grew way too quickly.

Honestly the hypergrowth and collapse seems to be the main killer for good if flawed ideas like Wework where it's not necessarily a bad concept but it sure as shit wasn't worth more than a couple million accounting for assets.

[–] brem@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

But really though, anyone calling it that is obviously kissing president pedo's poopy asshole

[–] CobraChicken3000@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 days ago

I'm super cereal, you guys!

[–] DrBob@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 days ago

Who the fuck called it what now? It's not aliens or Jesus. Artificial Intelligence will do just fine.

[–] brem@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Softhands McGee shouldn't be calling it "superintellegince"

Poor bastard, you forgot to hide your master's words

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That's not what it's called

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Artificial superintelligence (ASI) is a thing that people in the field have been talking about for years and years and donnie coming along and trying to call AI "SI" is just confusing the fuck out of everything, especially if people that should know better cave to his stupid childish nonsense.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

oof, I was about to downvote and yell at you because I misread that as "donnie coming along and trying to call it AI. "SI" is just...." lol

Whew. Glad it was my eyes at fault!

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Theoretical technology could be dangerous in the wrong hands eventually, sure.

However, "AI" is dangerous in the current hands now.

  • The military are using it to bomb civilians without accountability.
  • Politicians are using it to write laws.
  • Doctors are using it to approve surgeries.
  • Lawyers are using it to cite precedent.
  • Police are using it to surveil the innocent.
  • Pedophiles are using it to generate child pornography trained from real images.
  • The Epstein class are using it to get even more wealthy while they poison us, steal our water, and ruin our environment.
  • We use it to shoddily do tasks that isolate ourselves from eachother instead of collaborate together.

We can take the bait and worry about what may come, our we can address what us currently happening.

“Billionaire says obvious thing” is not newsworthy
