The guy's name is Linus and he reverse-engineered Linux? Who wrote this shit, Kojima?

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 41 points 5 days ago

Linus, you must deliver Linux to Nerdman.

If your app becomes vulnerable because the source code leaked, your app was always vulnerable.

Security by obscurity isn't reliable protection.

[–] Brimstone@lemmy.ml 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That’s why I only use brand name condoms!

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Even then you can get a trojan.

I mentioned this last time this was posted, but linux only has around 20 million lines of code. It's funny how people always seem to overestimate the size.

[–] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 54 points 5 days ago (2 children)

300 trillion lines you say!?!?

SMH with some serious management we could double that number of lines in mere months.

(Do I have to put the / ?)

You seem to underestimate how much 20 million loc is.

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 6 points 4 days ago

The difference in size between billions and 20 million is actually about the same order of magnitude as the difference between linux and my largest personal project (~100x).

Of course, "only 20 million lines" is a ridiculous statement taken out of context.

Wild thing is some total moron will read that and be like "phew thank god I run windows!”

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 23 points 5 days ago (2 children)

"See? I told you this lunix (sic) is dangerous!"

[–] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The funniest part of your comment is that you could not let Linux be misspelled without a correction, even though that's the joke.

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago

Hence the preemptive sic 😁

[–] kiri@ani.social 70 points 6 days ago

This joke will always be relevant.

[–] rem26_art@fedia.io 58 points 6 days ago

[–] degen@midwest.social 3 points 5 days ago

Idk how the monetization of a Twitter account works in the first place, but this detail boggles my mind

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 21 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

It has already been forked more than 60K times, there is no way linux can recover from this.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 26 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He's even rumoured to have recently started to use AI to assist in his project...!

[–] damnthefilibuster@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

What a dbag! Next we’ll find out he cusses people out on email lists and PRs.

[–] Chee_Koala@lemmy.world 22 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Create an operating system. Write code. Do not make any mistakes. Don't hallucinate

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 days ago

You should know by bow you have to capitalize "DON'T" so it really does not make mistakes. And if you really wanna emphasize it, say "DO NOT". this tells ai to really think. Know your tools!

Maybe it's just me but that site is atrocious to navigate on mobile, text and pictures didn't load until it's like half way on the page and the text does some weird animation effect when scrolling. Very distracting and difficult to skim

Soon enough there will be a fully decompiled Windows 11

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 19 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It turns out Windows 11 was just a backed up septic system all along.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 5 points 5 days ago

backed up septic system

It's called "MFC".

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Now imagine someone who would believe this is for real.

[–] fibojoly@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Up to a few days ago I assumed that would be my Director of Security.

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

My condolences.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago
