Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

Right? It’s like the writers had never met a pregnant woman.

writers

Writer. But you might be onto something. George Lucas has four children, three by adoption, and one via surrogate.

The prequel writers? They never met people at all.

I'm pretty sure it was written by a puddle of semi sentient goo, after ingesting half of the original scripts and a third of the Nickelodeon archive.

Excreted. Not written, sorry. I meant excreted.

Writers? Pretty sure the prequels were just Lucas doing what he wants with minimal oversight or editing.

Movies are not made to show realism, specially not star wars.

... is Padme a human?

I think all bets are off because this happened in a galaxy far, far away.

After very light research, it seems like Star Wars humans are the same species, although apparently originally it was intended that Star Wars was a story being relayed, and the "humans" in the story are only humans as a way to better relay the story to humans. Kinda like the aliens from Three Body Problem (the show at least, never read the books).

I choose to believe this, because otherwise it's extremely unlikely that humanoids with identical features evolved both separately and independently, several galaxies away from each other with no interaction at all....Yet they look and behave the same.

It would also explain why Galactic Basic sounds identical to a mix of American and Transatlantic English. Star Wars is just a dramatized retelling of alien rebels standing up to their alien government, with the rebels being portrayed as English-speaking humans so that Westerners on planet Earth will sympathize with their cause.

I think Human is the most versatile subtype of life, as we have

  1. Built in water cooling (sweating)
  2. Built in heating (hair)
  3. Persistence hunting

Each planet is just one biome in Star Wars, but Earth has TONS of biomes

I think most life naturally evolved to become typical "Human"s

You reminded me of this False Knees comic (couldn't find it online so this is a photo of my physical comic book)

[–] teslekova@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was not aware that there was a physical comic book. MONEY CANNON ONLINE

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 1 points 1 week ago

It's extremely good. I read it every couple of months. There is two comic books actually in English.

On that note, was Shmi human?

[–] Goodeye8@piefed.social 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think the Bene Gesserit still had to be impregnated. I'm not that deep into the lore but I doubt they could just will themselves into pregnancy.

[–] just_an_average_joe@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think Bene Gesserits could choose the gender of the baby (film cannon, haven't read the books unfortunately) but yes, they have to get the "seed" from someone

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Confirming book canon as well

[–] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Except that Paul Atreides was supposed to be a girl, proving the Gesserit hubris.

[–] Ghoelian@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

I believe that's because jessica actually wanted the boy. She didn't tell the bene gesserit afair, who would have done something about it.

I mean, she was a politician. She was probably experienced with suppressing her emotions and trying to remain rational in frustrating situations.

Physically, though, the waddle should have happened.

Her finishing school must have been HARDCORE!
