I went to take a shower and in my shower there was a big sturdy spider web with 4-6 big/adult cockroaches suspended in it. I got a small kitchen knife and stabbed the roaches with it. Once I killed them all I woke up.

I have had problems with roaches in that shower before. Not an infestation, but they would find their way up through the drain every once in a while. And I'm pretty afraid of them. The small kitchen knife was a little paring/peeling knife that I bought recently.
I appreciated that there was a spider who was able to catch the roaches, but worried that there were so many of them in the first place.

Please analyze this. Thank you.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

This is one of the most difficult yet. I'm afraid I might really screw this one up, but I'll try my best.

Analysis:

Hypothesis 1 - you might just be processing irrational, but quite common and natural fears of insects. If so, you can take this dream at face value. They are terrifying to you and persistent, so your subconcious is trying to grapple with the inevitability of the next encounter. This may be disapointing to read, but dream analysis has so much connection to strong emotions, that I'd estimate this as 80% most likely. No hidden meaning or subtle imagery leading to insight. Bugs creep you out and this dream is like an immune reaction between the rational harmless nature of them, and the irrational involuntary fearful reaction. It's not entirely unlike PTSD suffering moments of reliving trauma, just at the scale of creepy bugs.

However, there is a chance I'm misinterpreting this because of all the strong emotions, fear can be one of the trickiest to interpret. Irrational fears are even more difficult, and instinctive irrational fears like phobias, the most difficult to interpret of all. I'd estimate a 20% chance of the following alternative hypothesis. Your description contains subtle clues that open up this small possibility.

Hypothesis 2:

Something or someone is confronting you. Not just an obstacle, but the possibility of open conflict. What was once subtle and understated, now risks tearing at the seams. Your opponent, is neither malevolent, nor holding a personal grudge, but you are in their way, and they will boot stomp you if they have to.

You on the other hand are just doing what you beleive is right and expected of you. You are following the rules and confident in your position. Neither help nor hindrance is intended to your opponent and you see yourself as neutral, but you are blocking them from achieving something important to them.

An alarm is going off in your head that something bad is going to happen to you if this can't be resolved. You haven't decided what to do about it, but you have options to consider. Capitulate and withdraw your obstruction, but suffer a wound to your integrity. You could keep your obstruction intact and help your opponent overcome your barrier - as close to a win win as you can get, but those around you two may perceive this as collusion. You could stand your ground as is, but you understand you will suffer the other's wrath and make an enemy in the process. Other possibilities exist, like going on the attack, but the one thing you understand is there is no perfect choice. No matter what you do, you will have positive and negative outcomes, but you are grateful you have the choice to pick your poison and choose the lesser of two evils.

I don’t remember most but sometimes I manage to write them down. This was a scary one:

I was looking through a smart home camera on my phone that was pointing at me sitting in bed*. But soon I noticed this wasn’t actually me in the picture and it wasn’t a live feed, it was a recording.. Who was that?? Then the recording ended and it switch to the actual live feed of me. But someone was lying on the floor next to my bed, only visible in the feed. I jumped up and ran to the camera to get it. I held it closer and realized it was someone I knew back then from school who committed suicide. He started screaming at me and I woke up.

* no I don’t have any creepy bedroom cameras in real life!

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

I see this one clearly.

As you grow and mature, you realize the vastness in the possibilities of how you act, or react to events in your life. Old you would have considered a relatively limited set of possible options as a response to all of life's situations, big and small alike.

Equally, as your mind expands to new possibilities within you, you see a broader set of threats and opportunities that the world presents to you trhan you once did.

The fear you are feeling is because your understanding of your place in the world and the world itself has been growing enourmously as of late. It's a bigger, richer, more dangerous world than you once thought and your dreams are subconciously processing the new possibilities where the stakes, risks and rewards are much higher that you realized.

You haven't fully come to terms with this. You were comfortable as your old self, but you also realize that there is no going back. The richer more dangerous world was always there, and your being previously unaware of it wasn't any sort of protection. The Fangs and Treasure chests were always there, and you accept this. What you are still dealing with is your self-image or identity. Who do you choose to be that is capable of navigating this more adventurous and perilous journey. You are growing in to your new you, but the process is incomplete and you still have the opportunity to shape yourself into what you want to face the future.

I was trying to see if the road up a small mountain connected to the other side while using the topographical map layer. I struggled to see the roads because dark mode doesn't provide enough contrast between land and road. It was night time and some facility near the top had sodium lamps giving it a yellow glow.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Hmm. Not much to go on here. This one might be extra shitty, but here goes...

Analysis: You have a grand ambition percolating within you. Something that will benefit not just you and those you love, but an impactful major improvement that means a lot to a great number of people including complete strangers. Your subconcious self intuits the difficulty, even though you have not yet formed a plan or understood how to get to and through each stage of your ambition. You're searching for help in any form, people, tools, systems that can help you bridge the gaps you see and clear the fog that prevents you from seeing your potential paths.

Your frustrations have made you realized that you aren't ready to achieve your ambition yet and you are seeking a new body of knowledge in an unfamiliar domain that will enlighten you in ways that can finally advance your goals.

Find experts. Call people. Read widely in the library. Explore. Once you grasp the missing knowledge, you can move from planning to execution.

We arrived at some place and we all had backpacks. I wanted to leave my backpack in the car but the people I was with insisted we bring them in with us. We get to like a lobby or something and are informed that no backpacks are allowed, and he offers us a small cubby to put the backpacks in. My friends (I guess? I don't remember who these people were) started arguing that it was too small, and the host kept offering us larger and larger storage spaces, until it was basically a walk-in closet, but my companions were still complaining.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Your life is in transition, and you haven't decided which of many paths before you you want to take. You risk rejecting all paths foreward and could stall. Staying for a short spell isn't always a bad thing, but be careful of losing momentum and growing complacent.

[–] Octavio@piefed.social 3 points 7 hours ago

Thank you CapuccinoCoretto! For a free shitty analysis, I gotta say this was pretty on-the-nose. 😜

I literally just woke up from one. I was right outside our house and the neighbour's family were in the process of building a foot bridge to the field behind the house. They had dug up part of the steep hill just next to the house, leveled a small area and placed big rocks in a circle (makeshift seats) with the idea to have tale nights there, possibly with a fire in the middle. While hanging around the works, a friend of the family learns of my intention to grow weed and offers their field, up the hill, adding that his dad should completely okay with it.

A second later I see a couple I've never met before, europeans, young -strap themselves on a harness tied to a zipline that's connected to somewhere in the ocean. I zipline with them to figure out where they're going : it's a friend of theirs standing on a small, barely emerged rock in the middle of the bay, holding the other end of the zipline. We land on the rock. A girl in a kayak passes nearby, taunts me. I lose balance, fall in the water. My life jacket keeps me face down in the waves. I drown.

You have been wronged by someone close to you. Nothing egregious, but you bare scars and resentment. You are too well mannered to address your greivances, and likely consider direct confrontation, poor taste, and not likely to be accepted by your peers. You think it would be seen as petty of you.

Your preferred option is to have someone else who was a witness to your wronging, to stand up for you as a disinterested 3rd party, the opening up the door for redress and justice while maintaining your composure. The problem is, no one is standing up for you and you know it. You now understand that your preferred path only leads to nowhere.

You have a choice to make. Wear your scars in disgrace. Confront your agressor in what will be a pyrrhic victory at best, or seek a third option - anonymous petty revenge. Perhaps a campaign of malicious compliance, I can't tell more specifics because you haven't fully considered all your options.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

all my dreams are nightmares that usually incorporate three of the following:

  • military enlistment
  • zombies
  • brutal killing of family members
  • violent attacks from family members
  • long timespans (once lived in a dream for 80 years)
  • time travel - forward and backward
  • getting arms, legs, and torso ripped off while alive and awake enough to experience the horrors
  • helplessly watching my children die in horrific ways
  • witnessing the apocalypse first hand

there's probably more, but my brain is blocking them.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

I need one actual dream, not a thematic summary of perceived patterns.

For some reason our daycare had the offer to extend opening hours, but with different staff and you had to pay extra. We decided to book it, but then our kids did not want to go, because of the new staff. Mixed in some other random convoluted stuff, did not make any sense at all 😅

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I need the details of the random convoluted stuff. What doesn't make sense to you is everything to a dream analysis. It's essential. Try your best to recall and give me what details you can.

[–] kossa@feddit.org 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Really hard to recall. It was mainly about the "terms" of the daycare extension 😅. Like, it somehow started out that the new teachers were there during normal opening hours and the parents also were there in the afternoon, and nobody knew yet that those new teachers were for the extension offer. So, everyone was confused when the new schedule was introduced. Yeah, convoluten, as I said 😩

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

That's what I needed. Makes sense to me now. I'm feeling it.

Analysis: Subconciously you recognize that the life you and your loved ones are living is caught in a fragile system. All your daily needs and dependencies that were taken for granted as reliable without thought or effort, are now viewed as brittle, prone to fracture and even outright breakage.

No Idea what your specifics are, but you are starting to understand on some level that the things you took for granted might not always be available. Could be a bus schedule that isn't followed reliably, or a road that is closed for maintenance makes your life more difficult. Maybe the power goes out in your neighborhood more frequently. Maybe your school closes due to maintenance. Maybe some combination of all of the above.

You want to reach out to the people responsible for this, but you already know what they'll say. "Oh, we're improving the system! It will be better than ever." But you don't beleive it. You've come to terms that you need to make your own arrngements for the unreliability in your life. Reach out to others to make arrangement. If a school closes for a week, have a pool of parents who can share babysitting/homeschooling kids so the workload is shared. If transportation stops, have alternate routing or carpool with others. You can't always rely on previously reliable systems, but you can always rely on your friends.

You need to open a creative outlet. Something like a restaurant or an art studio or a music hall or maybe a band, but you are insecure about it. Unsure if you can make it a success, you have an abnormally large fear of failure, and not because you can't afford to make the gamble, but because you don't want the stigma of being the looser who tried and failed at something so important to you. You realize that not trying at all is the greater failure and certain to happen if you allow yourself to be dominated by your fears. In the end, you realize that your fears are unfounded, and it won't hurt to fail nearly as much as never try at all.

You'll do it, and be great at it.

I was on a sailing ship trying to deliver a very important package. For some reason, a wooden tall ship was the only ship that would work for this specific task.

There was a talking chicken in the crow's nest named Winona who informed me that she got the job because chickens don't get seasick.

... and apparently, according to a chicken-keeper on c/NoStupidQuestions, that's actually quite plausible.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

You feel adrift, or directionless in life. There are many places you want to go, things you want to do and goals to accomplish. What you don't have is a solid plan to get there. In the absence of said plan, you'll reach out to any idiot for guidance. Not that you'll take the guidance to heart, or even act on it. Just that you'll listen to anything from anyone for inspiration on charting your own course, no matter how shitty the advice or person giving it. You won't judge or push away the people around you, but you will make up your own mind. Anyone can come along with you for the journey, for as long as your paths stay aligned.

Fucked my whole day up today. I was with a romantic partner, we got accosted at a gas station by two guys one grabbed her and had a gun to her head. I shot him and called her by the wrong name and she started crying and left. I called the cops, then my parents to let them know. Mom's best friend answered the phone and was super cheerful, which is not like her at all. I went in the gas station and bought a pack of cigarettes. Cops never came.

Analysis: You are aprehensive about some negative and chaotic forces in your life that you can't control. You are worried about what you are capable of if push comes to shove. You don't want to become that person, fearful about what you will think about yourself and what other will think about you.

You are even more worried if you are forced to become a monster you loath, that others will think nothing of it. If those in your circle can accept a monster who was forced to become something terrible like it was normal, who are these people you've let into your life?
