I'm watching his speech and he is razzing everyone hard.

Told Rogers to enjoy his retirement and not come back to MI.

He started laughing when he said Vance is constitutionally obligated to swear him "Wolverines 1, Buckeyes 0"

Then told the orange turd that he knows he has trouble pronouncing his name, but after he's sworn in in January he only has to call him Senator.

Link to transcript, please?

I'm not sure any non-president has ever overcome so much spending to win anyway.

From the UK, well done USA, common sense has somewhat prevailed. Please don't fuck this up and in 2 years please don't vote for whatever sack of shit the republicans put up. The world literally depends on it.

[–] Wytch@lemmy.zip 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Here's the thing, though. "We" don't vote conservative. The problem is more that sometimes, when it's critical, "we" don't show up at all.

No. If you want to fight fascism you need to improve the quality of life of the average voter; not let fascists, psychopaths, and pedophiles finance the political class for decades.

The problem is that the majority of the American political class is corrupt, and the average Dems collusion with capital is not a differentiator to fascism; a 50 year backslide into abject fascism is not the fault of one side, or ~50% of politicians. Clean house or accept totalitarian dictatorship. Those are Americas options. Blaming the population who have been abused and exploited for decades will not help you... or do ya'll need gas chambers before you figure it out?

We don't have common sense or empathy. People are just mad because he fucked up the economy.

My apologies, but it hasn't been called (as much as I would like it to be). I don't think it's in doubt, but as The Guardian put it a couple minutes ago,

Abdul El-Sayed declared victory in Michigan’s US Senate race early Wednesday, saying he would become the first Muslim to serve in the upper chamber of Congress.

However, the Associated Press has yet to call the race. As of now, 79% of votes have been counted, and El-Sayed is leading his Republican challenger, Mike Rogers, by five points.

EDITED to revise: the race has now been called, about 45 minutes later, and El-Sayed has won. Congratulations to Michiganders on your new Senator (that actually gives a damn about you)!

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The Associated Press declared El-Sayed the winner at 2:27 a.m. EST.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Yeah, I've already edited my comment, thanks.

Decision Desk HQ has called it: https://votes.decisiondeskhq.com/races/2026-11-03/michigan-us-senate-general-election

But they seem the only ones so far

[–] lemonhead2@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

his speech was fantastic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7rJ_D6qCjI

told the previous Republican to retire and never come back. railed on trump and vance. good for him

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was ready to sweat this race. Didn’t think I’d say “eh no worries we took TEXAS, KANSAS, and IOWA”

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

True, but he is a firm progressive who's held his ground and that's something we did need to keep

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I don’t disagree. I’m happy he won because of that

[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

Looks like the Trump Presidency really did bring about some change. Jokes aside, the whole state voted quite a bit more blue this time around.

[–] HuntressHimbo@lemmy.zip 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This victory speech is delicious

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Oh no how unfortunate.

Hailey better cash that AIPAC check quick.

[–] Eat_Your_Paisley@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This was a vote blue no matter who election in MI, it seems like many Michiganders just went straight ticket dem. I was initially a Mallory guy but my vote was going to whomever won.

In late 2024, McMorrow voted as a state senator for legislation providing sales- and use-tax exemptions to qualifying data centers in an effort to attract projects to Michigan.

McMorrow said that she had a respectful relationship with AIPAC; the outlet also reported that her husband, who is Jewish, had interned for AIPAC.

She seems cool.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

He claimed victory, but the race is still not called.

Rogers told his people to go home.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Yeah, Rogers very pointedly has not conceded.

In the end, that doesn't mean El-Sayed hasn't won, just that we were all correct in thinking Rogers really is that much of a dick, and now we have to wait it out to find out just how much of a dick he plans to be about it.

Or to put it another way, there's a Senate race in Mississippi that The Guardian has at a mere 20 vote difference right now; I wouldn't concede that either. But that's not the case in Michigan.

[–] Bbbbbbbbbbb@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Texas wasnt a huge surprise. Kansas is kind of out of the blue, just a Republican in blue paint. Fucking Mississippi though? Now thats a shocker

[–] MelodiousFunk@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Kansas is kind of out of the blue, just a Republican in blue paint.

Yeah that one smells fucky through and through. We'll see how it plays out I guess.

[–] TipRing@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't have high hopes for Josh "Throw the trans community under the bus" Turek either.

[–] vividspecter@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

On the plus side, they have little to no power because the margin was so great.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I mean it's done.

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

This is amazing news

I feel something about 'Murica that I have felt before and been sorely disappointed in so many times:

Hope...
