This is exactly why we have a Headphone forum on Reddit...

I think the new generation of the C-Notes include the crossover circuit board.

The C-Notes do require quite a bit of soldering on the crossover. Look at Youtube videos if you are not sure what to do. It isn't hard if you take your time and have the right solder and soldering iron. There are a couple of extra things you will need to order if you get the kit like wiring, speaker ternimal spades, damping material and binding post that will increase the cost. It is a great speaker and well worth the time and effort.

They are great headphones! I have a pair myself and couldn't be happier.

I use to own the Pioneer SE50 and they are NOT quality audio headphones of today. They lack frequencies over 8khz and above and do not have sub bass or dynamics. It's a very flat sounding headphone. Any cheap Superlux, Samson or Philips would walk all over those things. You can buy headphone drivers on the net that would replace those or even buy a broken ( most have wiring problems ) good quality headphones off Ebay for cheap and change out the drivers. ** I would look for some broken cheap closed backs like Beyerdynamic DT series or Audio Technica ATH M- series if that's something you are wanting to do.

I own the SR850 and the SHP9500 and I though for the money, they were both killer deals on the headphone market. I never felt the SR850 was lacking anything that would make them sound tinny.

I would love to have the Empyreans!

I no longer hear a treble peak in mind as I have had them for well over a year. I think it's a fantastic sounding headphone for the money and will never sell them.

Probably around $200 a week in U.S. dollars working 50 to 60 hours.

Nice! Does the 400Se have any more quality problems beside this? I am wanting a pair and keep hearing things like this pop up on threads. Overall, do you like the HE400se except for the cheap headband?

My 109 Pro's are by far my favorite also. If I didn't own those, I would say my Audio Technica ATH AD 2000x would be in second place.
