I like their top end potential more than the Kings because in theory, Sabonis is harder to cover up defensively than Haliburton as the big structural weakness defensively.

But in practice, with neither team being a free agent destination, it will come down to drafting, trading and player development in the 2-4 spots and I do think Keegan Murray, Huerter and Monk is a better bet than Walker/Nembhard/Bruce Brown/Nesmith.

Both teams will probably end up bidding against each other and trading for a forward at some point in the next few years (one of Siakam or OG once they re-sign, say).

So, yeah, very similar teams with solid 5 year windows until Turner or Sabonis get old.

The vibe in posts like this is so weird. Wemby's length give him a shot to defend Jokic well if the Spurs can be a playoff team in like 2-3 years when Denver should still be a contender (even if Murray gets hurt long-term, you'd imagine they'll just trade the swaps and picks they have left to replace him and still be a contender).

Spurs are doing the right thing. The tank could bring them the top guard in the draft (I guess Collier?) or they can even look for a trade (if there's a young PG locked up on a long deal, but seems unlikely) or they have the cap space to sign the other Jones brother, draft another wing or big if that's the BPA, and they can always look for a trade down the line.

The only way I can comprehend is this if he noticed the keeper off his line earlier and said the first time I get on the ball on a counter attack I'm smashing it.

Pat Williams just seems too passive to me. I'd guess Williams tops out as a decent starter, 4th best player on a playoff team type, say worth 23-24M a year in current value, while Kuminga ends up as a #3 on a playoff team type, say worth 30M a year in current value.

Not really, but a team like the Bulls could send you Demar and Lonzo and look to max out someone like Siakam with their capspace, I guess.

But more likely Philly just keeps Harris, lets him expire, trades some 2nds to get off of Tucker's last year (or even a protected first and gets some 2nds back, someone like the Wizards would jump on this) and goes into the summer with Embiid, Reed, Maxey's cap hold and 75M in cap room to try to find 4 more rotation guys around those 3. Maybe Melton gets extended and it's like 60M to find 2 guys and they just roll with a top 6 and look for depth later, maybe move their 2024 1st on draft day for a cheap rotation guy like Caruso or Caleb Martin and then if you keep Melton at 14M per that's like 50M to go after DeRozan/OG/Siakam/Klay as a 3rd star, could be just about swingable.

Can't he just play the 5 instead of the 4?

I would try only looking at minutes that 4 rotation guys are on the floor, which requires some subjective pruning of the data set, but I just don't think you can consider minutes when 2 out of rotation guys are out there. So like for the Raptors I'd only look at minutes where 4 of Barnes, Siakam, OG, Poeltl, Trent, Schroeder, Boucher and McDaniels are out there.
