For me Linux surpassed the Windows desktop experience in 1996 and even though Windows 2000 was a pretty good upgrade, I don't think it has surpassed desktop Linux yet. Windows 10 was not bad either, but now that has gone mostly downhill whereas Linux has merely plateaud at worst or has been improving slowly at best.

If you're not humblebragging, perhaps you oughta get a Linux-preinstalled laptop like System76.
If you were humblebragging, check out https://fedoraproject.org/workstation/ and get the Plasma edition.
Because it's dangerous to be outside without being inside.
The main potential problem of democratic socialism is that it can fuel a sort of populist policies, where politicians promise all kinds of benefits to the voters. The politicians who promise and implement those things only get the benefits (votes and power) and never have to answer for the problems (e.g. inefficient and expensive structures that were perhaps not needed at all) they create. It's always the cleanup crew (the politicians who are responsible and implement austerity) who get the blame.
Like almost all things in this world, democratic socialism can also be great if it's implemented well. For instance, well-funded and well-planned public schools can be awesome for the whole society, both the poor, the rich, and everyone in between. But that requires skill, intelligence, hard work, all of which are scarce resources.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to go watch the movie Sinners. Reward the artists.
It's because we grew out of having to do physical work 8-12 hours every day just to stay alive.
They are fully capable of extracting profile data from you even if you're in incognito/private mode. And it doesn't matter what browser you are using. My colleague was demonstrating techniques to do that with methods he personally figured out in one day in a hackathon in 2015.
Google has been actively researching and developing such techniques about as long as they have existed. I find it improbable that they would actually delete this data.
Next headline: Google promises to delete the Firefox private window data they keep about you
Reddit has some sort of permabanned me, so I cannot get even new accounts there. So you guys get to enjoy me here, yay!
They unfortunately still have the critical mass, and even though Lemmy is getting better on that front, there's just so much more stuff on Reddit.
Fun coincidence, when I was about to write a supporting comment to this thread, my Fedora 42 running on X1 Carbon hard froze without any apparent reason and I had to hard reboot it.
