Legitimately needs to be an investigation
genuinely don't get how it can be so out there in the open that betting odds are affected, articles are constantly written about it, and still it keeps happening, and still the league does/says fkn nothing about it, just a joke at this point
Either the league has to acknowledge and actually appropriately deal with the conflict of interest or otherwise it’s basically
Not only do they do nothing about it, but if a player criticizes the reffing after the game, they'll fine that player for it.
Schrödinger’s Foster
We’ve lived long enough to watch the NBA become a police state lmao
I can understand why the league doesn't want players to bad mouth the refs in public, but for all that they claim that there's a system in place for teams to file complaints against the refs, nothing happens.
Jokic and Malone getting ejected the other day was a joke and there's no way complaints weren't filed and now we've got this just days later. Not to mention that the most egregious offenders are often the ones reffing the finals.
They’ve gotta be able to handle their refs if they want to keep the players quiet. You can’t just fine them and tell them to keep quiet and then trot out a corrupt crew. NBA has proven they can’t keep a leash on the refs so it’s up to the players and coaches to make a big enough stink about it
Makes you wonder if there’s quid pro quo with the NBA and NBA Refs somewhere down the line. Lotta money in sports gambling now.
Probably like if the league does anything the refs say they all bet on the games and the league gets destroyed
After 06 the nba promised Cuban they'd give him one later. Come 2011 dirk plays out of his mind plus gets the calls plus lebron plays like shit. Then mavs get their ship
They investigated themselves and found nothing wrong
Bruh, There is a whole system devoted to betting on the REFS in basketball. I know fairly successful degenerate sports gamblers that pay more attention to the officiating crews than they do the injury reports.
Because the league is making a lot of money from it
it miiiiight be because y'all are making shit up in your heads?
Chris paul basically said the same thing in his post game interview. That foster has a personal grudge against him and they even had to hold a meeting with chris paul and his family and foster before…
I know and? He clearly deserved that ejection so what's all the fuss?
The fuss is that Foster has officiated games that Chris Paul played in before last night and the ejection actually isn't the only relevant event between these two. Time to put your brain back in.
And CP shat the bed in these games, like he does any time theres actual winning on the line?
CP3 is a player I always root against but there is clearly a conflict of interest here having foster ref these games.
Are you seriously trying to gaslight people lmao? “Nah there’s no reffing issue you guys are just acting crazy”
His teams lose by an average of almost 12 points in those loses and people think it's a ref issue lol
Yea I've watched the last 4 or so of these playoff games. The problem is Foster doesn't call Chris' flopping. Paul then gets mad, and this affects his game. When he plays poorly, he gets chirpy and his team generally plays worse.
Fosters crew generally calls fouls that are above the waist. Paul likes to reach and poke guys above the waist on defense. Didn't watch last night to have recent context, but Paul has an axe to grind.
It's weird to me tho that many acknowledge Paul flops and complains to the refs all the time. So the one ref that doesn't put up with his bullshit is called crooked. And we are supposed to take Paul's comments as gospel.
As for everyone saying, "betting lines change when Foster refs, how is that not significant?" Betting lines are based both on the likely outcome of a game combined with the rate of betting seen on a game. So, if Foster games see more betting on Paul losing than normal, the line will shift to entice betting the opposite direction. This way, the bookies don't lose all their money. Even if the stats say Foster alters the outcome of games for Paul teams, since Foster is in Paul's head and generally plays like shit in those games, is it a surprise that Vegas would reflect this?
I’m too lazy to search for it, but I’ve heard mid players talk about how it’s an open secret in the league that the reffing is fixed and the league is sometimes into it. It’s frustrating for the players, but ultimately they understand that feeding the fans the narratives they want to hear increases revenue for the league and the take home salaries for all players.
Scott was 100% involved in the Donaghy scandal, and probably has some deal with league where he can’t say shit about it so long as remains employed.
What's your evidence there? 100% is pretty confident. I really hope you have more than phone calls and a gut feeling.
same as everyone elses evidence here
"it's obvious"
"everyone knows it's true"
if you ever expect more than that regarding this subject, you won't get it
Maybe Scott Foster’s organization has the NBA by the balls
He was the fbi agent that did the investigation said that nba games are on par with the wwe.
The refs get too much shit in every sport. It's legitimately really difficult to to do what they're supposed to do. Every call they make half the audience vocally hates and the other half is in smug silence.
That being said, this particular narrative with Foster/narrative is too shady and needs to be really looked at
...and for the record I like Foster. I think he's usually pretty fair
FBI cracked down on college players receiving gifts but not this? Puh leeaze.
The fact that Foster remains untouchable tells me he has to have some type of dirt on the league.
He is the dirt. He might be super connected though.
The dirt is obvious. There were way more dirty refs than just Donaghy and David Stern killed the investigation because he didn't want the NBA's reputation to tank if the truth came out. Of course, that means that the dirty refs became unfireable even if they were Donaghy's best bro like Foster. And of course everyone is going to say stuff like "but people already complain about the refs all the time" or "everyone knows that the refs are corrupt", but there is a big big difference between a commonly held suspicion and confirmation. For starters, the casual fans don't recognize individual refs and may have occasional complaints about how a game goes, but aren't really familiar with the conspiracies. If there's confirmation? It's in the news, there's congressional hearings, and even the most oblivious casual hears about it. Confirmation would cost the league easily at least $10B. Keeping Foster around is a bad look, but it harms the league a lot less than getting rid of him would.
I feel like it's too late now. There's no way they can plead ignorance and randomly start an investigation now. They would look horrible. Something new and concrete would have to surface.
Serious question: if the NBA came out and said they investigated and found nothing, would you believe them?
No because there’s obviously not nothing we just heard there’s something
Stern destroyed all evidence
"We've investigated and found that we've done nothing wrong"
based on a article? maybe cp3 sucks its known in playoffs he disapears
