People take their phone to the shower?

My phone has a projector built into it. I just reno'd the bathroom with relatively flat white walls. Put a gooseneck bike phone mount on the shower head rough-in. Now I watch YouTube on the wall while I shower.

I sometimes take mine to the shower room, when I'm in the middle of a podcast pr something I wanna finish listening to, but then I'm quickly reminded of what a welcome reprieve a shower is of the constant media bombardment hellscape we exist in.

I want a shower I can lay down in. That would be nice. I miss having one I can sit down in. It was great for meditation.

Picture yourself laying down in warm rain. Now picture yourself sitting in warm water. See, the difference? One I find more relaxing than the other.

So just don’t stop up the drain when you’re laying down in the tub while the shower is running? I’m with @FishFace@piefed.social on this one - a shower that you have space to lay down in is a tub. Is this maybe a language barrier thing?

[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 3 points 2 days ago

I'd need a bigger bathtub. I mean laying down flat on my back. English is my mother tongue (sadly).

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I see. But the most common type of bath I know of is a shower-over-bath!

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If you can lay down comfortably in your bath, you're either very short or your bathtub is huge

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Lie flat? Sure. But lie with your head propped up? That's normal.

Either you'd be kinking your neck very far (and still have to bend your knees to fit), or you'd be in a position that I don't consider lying. Reclining, maybe? Leaning back?

In order to be lying down, I'd say your back has to be in contact with the horizontal surface

[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 4 points 2 days ago

We have one. It's too small to lay down on my back in. I can't even sit comfortably in it. It's so narrow.

shower chairs are great

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Right? I want a shower with one of those fancy fold down cedar chairs

[–] DrPop@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Get a shower chair if you have room.

My parents got one of these for their old house, for a brief time when my grandma was living with them.

10/10 recommended. You can sit and let the hot water wash over you, or take a few minutes after a regular shower to enjoy the steam and warmth on a cold winter day.

Just make sure to move it around (and, obviously, clean it) periodically so the bottom of it doesn't end up making scum/mold spots on the shower floor.

It's waterproof and I wanna listen to podcasts

[–] Opisek@piefed.blahaj.zone 35 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Water resistant*

The difference is, if you do end up getting some water damage, the manufacturer will tell you to go please yourself!

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Which you can also do in the shower.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 16 points 2 days ago

With the phone. It's can vibrate and show porn.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

If, while showering, your device is submerged to a depth where this distinction matters, you have way bigger issues to be dealing with...

The difference is that waterproof means absolutely nothing.

[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 4 points 2 days ago

I can take my phone in the shower?

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I leave mine on the towel rack and listen to tunes while I scub

[–] 666dollarfootlong@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I want to do this but the music would be too loud so it would make me uncomfortable

That means you turned it down too far, try not doing that.

Bluetooth shower speaker. Most even have control buttons too, so you can adjust the volume, pause/play, skip/rewind, etc.

[–] Jimbo@pawb.social 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That's expensive

I mean, it's not that expensive but I have a perfectly good water resistant phone
