This man has clearly never met a lesbian before.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 71 points 1 month ago (2 children)

A military consisting entirely of leather-clad bears and diesel dykes would destroy everyone.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Whenever homophobes attempt to demasculate gay men, I always think of this Steve Hughes bit.

[–] Landsharkgun@midwest.social 5 points 1 month ago

"I want a big strong man to fuck me in the ass" lmao - thank you for sharing.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

I went to a live Frozen show and a (male) gay couple were sitting next to me. One was crying his eyes out as he sang along while the other was laughing and filming his partner. Both dudes were big, covered in tattoos, and could kick my ass handily.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 67 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Why the fuck would you want "alpha" versions in the military? It's just full of bugs and barely usable.

I have (had) a friend who went full on Jordan Peterson and talked a lot about being an "alpha" male. I told him that I consider myself beta male, as I've learned from my mistakes and was upgraded to beta. He went full on bat shit crazy and told me that thinking like this is definitely not alpha material.

He also can't hold a job (he's 38), and blames all his problems on females. He is not willing to work on himself, as he's the perfect alpha male. Yeah, fuck off you ignorant piece of shit.

[–] toothpaste_sandwich@feddit.nl 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Deeply saddening to read about these kinds of people.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 42 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Want to know what's even more sad about it? He was my best friend for nearly 30 years 😥 I've dropped all contact with him. He also can't face facts that goes against his personal beliefs, stating that the science must be wrong, because it does not fit into his world view - this is in reference to him stating that "100% of the people how transition regrets it". I found science papers showing that 1% regrets it, meaning 1 in 100. He said that it should be illegal to transition becuae of this. I ask "So one of one hundred people regret it, then it should be illegal for everyone?" "Yes"......

He had a girlfriend for some time, around 13 years ago. I met my friend two years ago, and asked him how long they were together. His response "I can't remember. She was just a placeholder girlfriend until I found someone better. You know how it is for us males" and my jaw fucking dropped. I tried for months to get him out of the psychotic thoughts, but it fell on deaf ears, so I told him that he should only contact me again if he ever sees how his world view is wrong.

Rant over lol

[–] LainTrain@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's rough. It's actually even less than 1%, and moreover when you compare this to the population average regret for all surgeries including things like knee or hip replacements which IIRC is around 14% from a study in NA, it's even more shocking how well transition works for trans people.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Yeah bottom surgery has the highest regret rate (largely due to complications) at lower than many immediately lifesaving surgeries.

[–] Cloaca@mtgzone.com 13 points 1 month ago

That's rough bud.

Good on you for giving him some chances, but he got himself down that rabbit hole and he is the one that will have to pull himself out by the bootstraps that he loves so much.

[–] Huckledebuck@sh.itjust.works 39 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Conservatives are not even trying to understand LGBTQ+ people. They lump them all into one group and have labeled them as such. There is no spectrum of attributes for this group. They are simply LGBTQ+ and nothing else.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 month ago

Mental illness doesn't work that way. You can't just convince a conservative that all people are inherently the same just different flavors. They 100% need someone to be inferior to them otherwise their entire philosophy is dead on arrival

[–] XTL@sopuli.xyz 15 points 1 month ago

It's just "us vs them" thinking and signaling.

[–] MossyFeathers@pawb.social 38 points 1 month ago (1 children)

“When you’re using a drag queen to recruit for the Navy, that’s not the people we want,” Cao said. “What we need is alpha males and alpha females who are going to rip out their own guts, eat ’em, and ask for seconds. Those are young men and women that are going to win wars.”

Dude, you're talking about the Navy, lmao. I can't imagine any place in the Navy outside of the seals where you'd need or even want high-on-testosterone meat heads. Even then though, you severely underestimate a gay man's (or woman's) ability to be a 'roided-out meat head.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Also the seals are disproportionately pre transition last I heard.

Naval intelligence on the other hand, wildly disproportionately queer.

Hell the modern gay community has its roots in a fuck ton of people falling in gay love in WWII and deciding to stay where they were dropped off instead of going back to the middle of nowhere.

This man needs to understand the fact that, as a heroic partisan once said, homosexuals are not cowards

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

I have a hypothesis that the reason there's so many LGBTQ people in cybersecurity is that they learned from an early age how to hide their activities from other people using a lot of the same techniques hackers use.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yeah and no weak poor people in the military either, just wealthy and powerful nepo babies whoops I mean alphas. Only people on the front lines should be politicians, millionaires, and billionaires since they are so much more effective than anyone else. /s

[–] LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Wait wait I'm here for it. Get the status quo to defend themselves

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

I can support this, especially if we stick them all on one ship and we get blame the Maine on Spain 2 electric boogaloo!

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 28 points 1 month ago

Sounds like someone's looking for a boyfriend who will pull his hair

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So how soon do we find out he's on Grinder?

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Isn't it Grindr (without the e) ? ... or so I have heard.

[–] aphlamingphoenix@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

Grindr... That's that app for finding hot hoagies in my area?

[–] m0darn@lemmy.ca 26 points 1 month ago

Ah yes, the best military is the one full of "alphas", where nobody let's anyone else tell them what to do.

[–] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

An ignorant idiot says what...?

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

The military is a heirarchal organization. Having individual expression in it opens the door to like doubting the mission. I actually think it would be funnier if the military just banned gender entirely: "the military has one gender and its pronouns are They/Them"

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

They don't even need "they/them" when they have ranks.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

My gender is "Sergeant"

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

And job based, Nobody is stopping to question why a woman is answering the radio when they need fire support. At that moment her gender is 50-100 meters of death on demand.

You joke but, "My name is Drill Sergeant, My pronoun is Drill Sergeant, My descriptor in any way coming out of your mouth is Drill Sergeant, Do you understand recruit?" has definitely been said. And the whole gender blindness thing has been tried to varying success rates. "We don't have men and women, we have Soldiers"

The problem comes with actual regulatory and medically required differences. For example they aren't issuing men tampons and women are required to have a separate bathroom or latrine trench. So officially banning sex isn't possible. But half of the force does not have the education or willingness to recognize the difference between sex and gender. (Some really are barely high school graduates of bad school systems and others are just idiot conservatives) It doesn't really matter why they won't recognize the difference when all of the protections for women are dropped in some units.

To be honest, with the exception of sexual assault the military does pretty well trying to integrate women. And that may be improving, we've had high level, outside the chain of command, flag officers, reporting directly to the service secretary SA investigations for less than a year. (Dec 2023) So we'll see where the data goes with that.

Good luck doing Jack shit without naval intelligence

Also like half the marines are bi and closeted from what I hear

[–] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The marines eat the full rainbow of crayons?

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The marines are as straight and manly as cat be, that’s why they keep humping each other and joking about dick sucking

[–] thesporkeffect@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Uh. Dicks are super manly though, definitionally. Just to agree with you

E: I forgot to account for female ones.

This guy is definitely a bottom.

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 1 month ago

Another weird Republican snowflake. So many of them lately.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not that long ago the GOP was all about how women should not be in the military.

[–] PyroNeurosis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 month ago

They still are, but they gotta move the needle back there gradually. It's not in vogue to restrict women to feminine roles just now.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

“What we need is alpha males and alpha females who are going to rip out their own guts, eat ’em, and ask for seconds. Those are young men and women that are going to win wars.”

Hugely reassuring to me that this psychopath was a captain in the Navy.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Senate needs less bigots. They seem to come mostly from one side. We should focus there.

Cao, the token race traitor who threw all minorities under the bus for a group of bigger assholes that wants him dead. Fuck this guy.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He even stereotyped himself in some twist of argument from authority by saying “never go against an Asian on math.”

I could understand saying that about yourself as a joke in a casual setting, the way that many people make self-aware jabs at their own stereotypes. But to say it as if it’s some “gotcha” in a serious discussion is messed up.

[–] kellyaster@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Agreed. Yeah, people kid around like that all the time, heck I do it when I'm feeling especially "ironical". But to pass off a known stereotype as fact is just...well, weird.

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Yet another GOP cardboard who never served in any branch, disparaging active service members while pretending they give a shit about the military.

[–] Vieric@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

I dunno man, these guys seem kinda insecure...

[–] z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 month ago

Uh huh. And what other things that you don't actually believe are you willing to say in exchange for money and power? The only consistent behavior Republicans exhibit is their disingenuous statements and actions.

[–] badbytes@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Nothing more alpha, than sucking a D!
