Are you fucking kidding me? The US is ruled by memes now. How long until they reach out to Scumbag Steve or Success Kid?

[–] Naz@sh.itjust.works 6 points 21 hours ago

I'm glad that I took vector calculus in college, so I can accurately model this fucking parabola of the country going straight into the ground.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

We're living in the Idiocracy. It's not the future, its now.

"But I didn't get no Big Ass Fries!"

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 33 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Let me blurt it out here, people: you are looking at your next president. And I am aware that, currently, by law, a non american can not be elected for office.

yet

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

By law, neither can an insurrectionist, but here we are.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You are.

I'm outside the lines watching the circus burn, keeping my hopes up the audience notices it and get out while there is time.

They sewed the tent shut long ago.

Pocket knives can do miracles.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not sure what you're trying to say here. I'm supporting your point that rules will be broken; they already have been.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just trying to (more or less) clearly state, that although not being american, I am aware things are getting very bad over there and have the potential to get even worst, but I hope the people realize it in time to do something to turn it around.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 day ago

Oh right, well I’m not American either. But I reckon this could have global implications and we’re all stuck on this little rock together (whatever Elon thinks about Mars).

[–] limelight79@lemm.ee 15 points 1 day ago

Laws mean nothing any more. Both houses of Congress are Republican and the Supreme Court has several Trump supporters on it. No one with any power will stop him.

Creating a second department to do something there already is a department for so you can have funni name is peak efficiency.

[–] piccolo@sh.itjust.works 1 points 17 hours ago

Sir, thats the government accountability agency.... thats the first one to be axed.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Nah, this one's OFFFICIALLY non-governmental and just makes "suggestions". Because you can't just create new departments, nor get rid of them, without Congressional approval.

...and slash regulations. I know this has always been their goal but damn. He doesn't even need anything more, he has almost everything money can buy, and he thought, "ok, I have to try to buy the government".

[–] TranquilTurbulence@lemmy.zip 48 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is beginning to sound a lot like Cyberpunk. Corporations act like governments while NUSA takes a backseat.

[–] BlackLaZoR@fedia.io 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Mike Pondsmith just extrapolated the trends he saw in the society - corporatism, drugs, plastic surgeries, stress, crime, prostitution. He just pushed these things to the extreme and put in scifi setting. This isn't just Trump thing, this is happening for decades now.

The drug adled guy who caused Twitter to lose 85% of its value and to become a racist hate filled Russian propaganda machine?

This should be good.

Xitter is worth as much as it was estimated before he paid an absurdly over market price for it but it won't matter because he got what he wanted out of it and will make all that money back by siding with fascism. So in reality, Xitter didn't lose any money, Elon just threw away a bunch of billions to make even more later and it worked. America chose this.

Next up. We're renaming dollars to x-coin.

[–] Ixoid@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

X-bucks, it scans better. Sorry not sorry.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 day ago

No x-bucks is alimony

[–] tourist@lemmy.world 50 points 1 day ago

Just bulldoze the whitehouse and erect a circus tent

[–] apemint@lemmy.world 71 points 1 day ago (3 children)

We're in the one where Biff takes the Almanac back to the past.

[–] pastel_de_airfryer@lemmy.eco.br 49 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Makes even more sense when you realize Biff was based on Donald Trump!

Congratulations America. You put the reins of power in the hands of toddlers coming up with cool names for made up comic book superheroes.

Isn't this kinda a conflict of interest

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 40 points 1 day ago

Pretty sure having one or more conflicts of interest is a requirement for Republicans and their allies.
