Summary

JD Vance called for the rehiring of Marko Elez, a 25-year-old DOGE staffer who resigned after The Wall Street Journal exposed his racist and eugenicist tweets.

Elon Musk polled users on X about reinstating Elez, with 78% supporting his return.

Vance, while disagreeing with Elez’s posts, opposed “rewarding journalists who try to destroy people.”

Elez had access to the U.S. Treasury’s payment system before resigning.

Vance is a total cuck. Imagine having to tell your wife and your kids that you called for someone to be rehired after he resigned because it was discovered he was saying to hate on Indians....

[–] Theonetheycall1845@lemmy.world 1 points 13 minutes ago

Do you think his wife and kids are any different? They probably talk about how the "kid was just being stupid" and "everyone makes racist comments at one time or another" around the dinner table while listening to John Denver

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 18 points 2 hours ago

Fuck the racist posts this was the guy mucking about in the treasury systems financial computer code without any safeties. All changes directly to live. He should be black listed for that idiocy alone.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

I guess he got done fucking every couch in the Naval Observatory and finally had time to make a statement to the press

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 24 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Can I buy some kind of financial instrument that invests in precisely the opposite shit JD Vance does because the opposite of JD Vance is smart as fuck.

[–] MrMcGasion@lemmy.world 15 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

I'm thinking of investing in "JD Vance killed Donald Trump" merch, not because he did, but considering Donald's age and arteries, if Trump dies of natural causes in office, I'll be able to ride that conspiracy into my own retirement.

it is 2026, much of North America is desert. Machines mine what little is left unspent and undefiled. Upon this horizon we can be seen riding giant sandworms of conservative bullshit nonsense, our hooks of satire set sure on yet another raid on Bigot Town.

In this future winning is a state of mind, something beyond a matter of deducing likelihoods of success in particular acts of resistance, it is rather more like getting a high score in tony hawk pro skater.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 4 points 4 hours ago

How about President Musk merch?

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

[–] Veedem@lemmy.world 61 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

"We shouldn't reward journalists who try to destroy people. Ever," said Vance, referring to the fact that The Wall Street Journal on Thursday exposed Elez's connection to an X account that made the inflammatory tweets.

Destroy people by simply pointing out what those people said lol.

[–] Dashi@lemmy.world 41 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

And what they said RECENTLY too. They were not dredging up tweets from 40 years ago. If memory serves these tweets were within the year.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 hour ago

In September!!!

The account linked to Elez tweeted in September, “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.”

The same month, the account tweeted ″‘Normalize Indian hate,’ referring to a post noting the prevalence of people from India in Silicon Valley,” the Journal reported.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

To be fair it's hard to have old social media posts when you're still drinking milk.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 124 points 9 hours ago (5 children)

The guy said normalize Indian hate (among other terrible things) and Vance’s wife is Indian. His soul is long sold

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 hour ago

Wtf I thought this was something years ago that they're saying "don't let an old post ruin your life now". He posted this shit in September

The account linked to Elez tweeted in September, “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.”

The same month, the account tweeted ″‘Normalize Indian hate,’ referring to a post noting the prevalence of people from India in Silicon Valley,” the Journal reported.

These idiots all think they're immune. They might last longer than the rest of us, but in the end they'll wind up crushed just the same. Too bad if it gets that far there'll be no one left to feel the schadenfreude.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 69 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

Vance would kill his entire family for power.

^^^and ^^^mascara

He'd kill for a nice Loveseat.

[–] dance_ninja@lemmy.world 16 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

[Joke about Vance sleeping on the couch.]

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 11 points 9 hours ago

Also never marry outside your race!

[–] CMLVI@lemmy.world 71 points 9 hours ago

In the same breath, they refer to him as a kid making a mistake, to appeal to us. We've all been in somewhat similar situations, making mistakes as kids. And then seconds later, he's a highly trained professional who is well-equipped to manage poring through Treasury docs and deciding where funding is sent or ceased.

What is he? Is he a kid or is he an adult? Be consistent. Fuck everything about this.

[–] demizerone@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

cannon fodder is useful.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 19 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

This guy has to be seriously compromised. They found him literally fucking an underage couch or something.

[–] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago

ROFL!

The couch was underaged?

I have to take a moment to say- I love when people go the extra mile to push what would have been a funny comment into a much better and hysterically funny one.

It’s like in the show Community, when Pierce got injured, instead of saying: “Call an ambulance!” he said, “Call all the ambulances!”

Maybe it’s just me, but I notice that stuff and always wonder how in the hell the writers thought to add that extra bit in?

Well done!

Elon Musk polled users on X about reinstating Elez, with 78% supporting his return.

I know why Musk does this - manufacturing the appearance of consent and perpetuating his "vox pupuli" delusion - but at this point, it's so transparent that his followers are sycophantic blue-checks and bots that it's insulting to even pretend this matters any more than a Russian election.

Unrelated other point: love it how Vance sees he's fully reduced to an afterthought, so of course to try to increase his standing with Trump he tries to out-shameless the rest. At this point all of the GOP are like colorful birds putting on mating dances for Trump, competing who can be the most craven and subservient, hoping he picks them.

[–] MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago
[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 8 points 9 hours ago

Surveying the bots.

[–] FiremanEdsRevenge@lemmy.world 45 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

78% of bots approve his return.

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 3 points 7 hours ago

Seems legit

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 33 points 10 hours ago

Hey, Assistant to the vice president Vance, you shouldn't be giving advice.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 27 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

"Journalists shouldn't destroy people, that's our job. We make sure only the right people get destroyed, though, so it's all good"

[–] Majorllama@lemmy.world 16 points 9 hours ago (3 children)

I'm generally against holding people to the stupid shit they said as teenagers but the stuff he was saying goes a little beyond typical edgy stupid teenager crap. "I would never marry outside me ethnicity" isn't a even fringe trying to be funny by being racist type of comment. That's just someone who is racist through and through. Probably raised by racists as well. Typically kids don't just fall outta the sky being that racist to begin with. That's a learned behavior.

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 20 points 8 hours ago (3 children)

The stupid shit was also said only three months ago.

Can you imagine marrying JD Vance? It is the functional equivalent of locking your sex life into that pain box Paul Atreides had to stick his hand into, but for the rest of your life (or mercifully, maybe JD's if you get lucky but still vomits in mouth eww).

Also these kids are still in their stupid teenager phase, as proven by being little Nazis sucking up to to Elon Musk.

[–] Punchshark@lemmy.ca 15 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I hope im alive when the next Wolfenstein comes out! Kill american nazis!

America died with a whimper! Definitely not as strong as the Ukraine!

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

FYI, "the Ukraine" was the label Russians (and Risk) used for the region. It's just Ukraine now.

[–] Punchshark@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 hours ago
[–] DABDA@lemm.ee 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

America died with a whimper!

Do you get royalties every time you say this or something? You've had an account for ~3 days and you've already used variations of that phrase at least 8 times. I'm not attacking the sentiment, it just feels forced and isn't a particularly witty comment worthy of that much repetition.

[–] Punchshark@lemmy.ca 4 points 7 hours ago

Definitely no royalties! Just stating the obvious. I thought there would be more of a bang, but nope. You dont have to like it. I dont agree with everything I read online, but that is the great thing about our current lives is that we have the ability to disagree. I just hope it stays that way

[–] medicsofanarchy@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

Don't make Vance cry, his mascara will run
