Summary

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem faced backlash for mocking Canada during a visit to the U.S.-Canada border in Vermont.

At the Haskell Free Library, which straddles both countries, Noem repeatedly stepped over the border line, declaring with a grin “U.S.A. No. 1” and calling Canada “the 51st state.”

Critics, including Canadian officials and social media commentators, condemned her remarks as insulting and unprofessional.

The stunt comes amid heightened U.S.-Canada tensions, with Trump imposing tariffs and openly suggesting annexation, prompting a strong response from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Did anyone ask her why she isn't wearing a suit?

They're all DEI hires. None of them are the most qualified candidate.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Political DEI hire.

As someone from there I agree. This excuse for a female human is an example of the corrupt darkness that comprises this government.

Yeah, it's like our worst turds floated to the top and are now running it into the ground. So, so stupid.

[–] b161@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 days ago

Capitalism is the most efficient system we’ve got for allowing narcissistic turds to rise to the top.

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 82 points 4 days ago

They should have had cops there to arrest her when she crossed into Canada. I'd bet big money the stupid bitch had a gun on her.

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 54 points 4 days ago (1 children)

She's acting up. Better take her out back and shoot her.

*This bitch is

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 56 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Arrest her for illegally crossing the border.

Then send her to a concentration camp with no contact for months. Give her the real American migrant experience.

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee 45 points 4 days ago (1 children)

So does this mean she illegally entered our country?

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 34 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yes. Please arrest her and lock her away.

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And if anyone shows up to take her back, lock them up too.

If you need help defending against any terrorist activities by an opposing nation, let me know, I will happily defend the free world from fascism.

Just as soon as you get the transporter working...

[–] Cort@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

One more crack like that and you'll get an all expenses paid vacation to the pattern buffer

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 days ago

Don't threaten me with unmitigated immortality via lossless duplication, you charming Federation malcontent.

USian here.

We barely know. I think she's literally a puppy murderer.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 37 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Oh, her. She shot a goat for some reason and the dog because she failed to train it and didn't like what it was doing, then uses it to write about how she makes tough decisions and that she should be praised instead of ridiculed for being a huge piece of shit in a skin suit.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Some people just need the zipper yanked on their flimsy skin suit so the clotted pus burbling just underneath is plain for all the damn mouth breathers to see — though they'd probably just deep fry it on a stick in a thrombosis-primed heartbeat.

(Which, I'm sure we're all pretty okay with too, considering the beneficial effects of such a fad taking off nationwide, much less globally.)

[–] themadcodger@kbin.earth 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This really is the worst timeline. We should be best friends and have that border that was barely guarded through the 90s. 😞

[–] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It literally has nothing to do with us. He's using tariffs to fund massive tax breaks for the rich. He sold cabinet positions and is allowing the billionaires who bought them to destroy the departments overseeing their industries in order to maximize profits. He doesn't give a shit about Canada or Mexico or China. He just sees us as a source of billions of dollars that he can transfer to the wealthy.

I hope that the riots in the streets start up sooner rather than later.

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

It literally has nothing to do with us.

I don't think there's a single person here who would disagree with you.

I hope that the riots in the streets start up sooner rather than later.

Same. But uncoordinated opposition just leaves a lot of dead "lone wolf crazy gunmen"

Good reminder to keep organizing.

Another Canadian here

Oh, an American acting like an idiot and talking like a jerk? ....... Which one?

[–] qprimed@lemmy.ml 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

edit: Ugly American (Pejorative) for those who may not have known.

[–] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 4 days ago

Some incompetent bimbo some incompetent orange utan designated to head the American Gestapo.

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 20 points 4 days ago (2 children)

At least she didn't kill anything during the event.

[–] Tm12@lemmy.ca 16 points 4 days ago

I’ve heard she kills the vibe at any event she attends.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 13 points 4 days ago

Yep, hide your puppies.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 14 points 4 days ago

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

It would be fucking grand if every single trump supporter would die in a fire.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Canada, just absorb the northern blue states already.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

Vermont never promised they wouldn't secede.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Everyone who expected this turd circus to be any more competent than it was last time: Why?

[–] qprimed@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 days ago

most of us have the memory of a goldfish; its a surpise every time.

There is nothing to gain from this weird BS rhetoric, but plenty to lose.

I guess she's only there to do dumb political stunts

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 1 points 4 days ago

You just can't trust the gubmint anymore.
