What a rollercoaster

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 14 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I am apparently VERY out of the loop, is there a source that isn't a tweet?

He said it during his confirmation hearing. I'm not going to go though the video for a timestamp, so here's part of it transcribed by The Times:

As Jenny and I pray every morning, all glory, regardless of the outcome, belongs to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His grace and mercy abounds each day,

It’s nearly impossible to beat an enemy who is unbound by the rules they try to impose on others with words alone.

It’s just great hearing 250 million Americans who have barely played defense let alone fought back say “it’s impossible to beat these guys!”

Did you not finish reading their comment.

Username checks out.

The message of Jesus has been fucked with pretty much since his death, starting with Paul and the Council of Nicea all the way to today with the American (read: money worshipping) branches of Christianity/Catholicism. Love God more than you love anything else and love your neighbour, that was it, but Americans don't follow Jesus. Idk what they follow and I don't care what they call themselves but, just like the Zios, they don't fear nor love God and they certainly give no fucks about their neighbours. And if you don't believe me, wait til you see what happens post American collapse. There's a reason people in Gaza broke their fast together through genocide whilst the West can only see Mad Max as the result of collapse, lol.

This sounds exactly like the typical MAGA conservative. They love people like this.

Yeah, I checked the Bible and rape, adultery, incest and bigamy are all acceptable behaviors in the Bible as long as you're male and part of the in-group. If you are a woman, on the other hand, you will be stoned to death. I didn't make the rules, God did.

[–] Nelots@lemm.ee 5 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

Just acceptable? Hell, sometimes its even commanded by God.

Required to make Jesus

[–] Lumiluz@slrpnk.net 1 points 9 hours ago

Sure, if you only follow old testament.

Which, if most Magats declared they were old testament followers, they would be in the clear.

But no, they specifically invoke Jesus, who was extremely against those things, and even stated (paraphrased) that marriage should only be allowed basically because humans can't keep it in their pants (this is where certain Christian denominations, such as the Catholic Church, get the whole "you can't be married / have a partner" thing).

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

You’re not wrong.

[–] The_Caretaker@lemm.ee 2 points 13 hours ago

If you downvoted me, all you are saying is, you have never actually read the Bible.

[–] Kurious84@eviltoast.org 15 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Jesus would not approve of almost everything they are doing.

I'd like to sit this moron down with a ChatGPT session and try to justify anything they're doing and see if it even remotely follows the teaching of Jesus.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Where does ChatGPT fit into the pantheon?

[–] EntirelyUnlovable@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago

LLM stands for Large Language Messiah, didn't you know?

It's okay, he was drunk at the time /s

[–] Eatspancakes84@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

If that happened I guess it was His will /s.

[–] peetabix@sh.itjust.works 5 points 12 hours ago

Man, what a Christian.

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

The new pope will surely excommunicate those cucks, will be?

[–] Archangel1313@lemm.ee 24 points 18 hours ago

Give the guy a break. He was probably drunk at the time, and doesn't remember a thing. /s

[–] Altrex@lemmy.world 12 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

This is a fundamental flaw with current Christianity and most religions as a whole.

If an arbitrary third party absolves your sins then you don't feel an emotional need to own your wrongs.

The above assuming the person isn't a psychopath in the first place.

[–] zloubida@lemmy.world 0 points 13 hours ago

Absolution requires to ask for forgiveness; to ask for forgiveness requires the owning of our wrongs; to Owen our wrongs require reparation and trying at best of our possibility to stop repeating our wrongs.
