Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

The departure of a man who once appointed himself Trump’s “first buddy” was quick and unceremonious. Musk did not have a formal conversation with Trump before announcing he was leaving the administration, according to a source with knowledge of the matter, who added that his exit was decided “at a senior staff level.”

This clown show plays the American public like a circus act

I won't believe the circus has left town until I see them take the monkeys off the stage

Actually that's an Orangutan, which are great apes. Well this one isn't so great, but it's a different family than monkeys.

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 6 points 1 year ago

That’s an insult to orang-utans, who are quite intelligent, unlike Agent Orange

he did what he needed to do, end all investigations against him, award all contracts to him that were blocked. fire all department employees as a distraction.

Come on now, Elon's paid >$250 million dollars to trump's campaign (that we know of) he deserves to have his needs met, the US isn't called "land of the free" for nothing! /s https://www.theregister.com/2024/12/07/elon_election_spending/

I haven’t been paying attention, but weren’t we a couple weeks or days away from his active involvement with DOGE coming to an end per a previously agreed upon timeline?

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 48 points 1 year ago

Isn't this the 3rd or 4th time in the last month Musk has "left the government"?

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 35 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Even if this is true the damage he managed to do in just a few months will continue for a long time. Go fuck yourself, Elon.

Plus all the data he now has... That he stole.

[–] Litebit@lemmy.world 25 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Just say it... You were fired. you were DOGED.

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

okay, so i normally hate LLMs, but this is pretty funny.

here's my joke: "you think he'll share his breakup spotify playlist? i bet it has lots of evanescence on it"

here's what it suggested instead: "You think he'll drop his breakup playlist? Bet it’s just Grimes tracks and the sound of him refreshing Trump's DMs."

edit - LMAO

"Can’t wait for Elon’s breakup playlist. Probably just Grimes songs and audio clips of him begging Trump to like him again."

[–] breakingcups@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You "normally" hate llms yet run to them to generate jokes for you after reading news headlines?

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world -4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

when LLMs are used to replace actual intelligence, then yeah i hate them. they're pretty funny sometimes, too. just like autocorrect.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That doesn't address why you would immediately try to use chatgpt to change a joke.

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

if LLMs were marketed as language assistance and productivity tools, that would be splendid. instead, they plug it into google and tell everyone it's artificial intelligence. Now it just bullshits to everyone because they think they're talking to a sentient fucking machine instead of 21st-century Clippy.

all that said, your post has a bit of an accusatory and judgemental tone to it - at least as i'm reading it. did i address your concern?

[–] assembly@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I really think this is just about him wanting to stop pissing off Tesla customers and get people to go back to buying his cars. I don’t believe at all that this break is legit.

[–] NotAGamer@lemmy.org 5 points 1 year ago

People will still not buy Teslas. Even if he stops gutting important government offices, he's still a fucking nazi.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

May he take a long walk off a very short, but very tall, bridge.

Not that it matters much that he is "leaving" DOGE as I'm sure his cronies will continue his "work" for him.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Maybe he can ride the next rocket his company tries to launch.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Dear Elon,

It's not in your head. It's real, nobody loves you. Nobody will ever love you.

Sorry not sorry, Everyone

[–] Grizzlyboy@lemm.ee 16 points 1 year ago

Hopefully he departs earth next.

[–] roserose56@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 year ago

No one cares bro! Go die if you want, you already did enough to destroy the world.

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 year ago

All according to the script. Raise curtain for Act II.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Treasury department has more backdoors in it than an Asus router with the default password. His work is done.

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

I've done my job, like I always do. I made myself important and in the spotlights, I destroyed everything, I'm leaving behind ruins and a pile of shit. It costed the tax payers a lot of agony and money, but I had a lot of fun and I made a lot of money so it was worth it. Thank you!

Gotta save face, even if your 'contract' expires in 3 days...oh, and frumpy already kicked you out.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Good to see you go. Now time for you to leave the country Nazi.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 4 points 1 year ago

Yet another in a long list of people that Donnie doesn't need any more.

[–] garretble@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

LOL KEK

(Am I doing that right?)

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I don't think so. You don't buy the us presidency for hundreds of millions just to give up after a few months. He'll just pretend to work at Tesla while actually continuing be the president

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

He broke with Trump over the Big Beautiful Billionare Enrichment Bill? Was his cut not big enough?

[–] Lettuceeatlettuce@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Good riddance, you won't be missed, make sure the door hits you on the way out.
