not sure on the numbers, just throwing a random ass idea out - but we went on a road trip last year and rented a hardshell rooftop cargo unit (ie Thule). You could prob grab a few of those for a few grand, install should be pretty easy, they're pretty durable / low maintenance. i'd honestly rent one again. we dont need one frequently enough to justify buying one so the price was still decent enough considering how much more comfortable we were in the vehicle with extra space.

Apple Vision Pro, buy it for $3500, rent it for $200/day.
It’s good to want things…🙄
It seems to me that people are willing to pay more for things the want vs. things they need.
That being said, I live in northern MN and I have strongly considered buying a couple of sherps to rent out. They're not street legal so you'd have to either
A: deliver them yourself on a trailer
B: rent them a trailer along with the sherp.
Since many people are not proficient with the operation of a trailer (not to mention loading/securing the vehicle for transport), option A seems the more sound decision but would involve a LOT more time.
Also, I'm a trained diesel mechanic so I could maintain them myself- not everyone has that advantage.
Sherps are expensive, and trailers are expensive. But I suspect you could lease both. Still, even leasing,, probably gonna cost $250k or more to get set up.
Get an army of massage therapists who go to homes. Charge $175 an hour and split with the therapist. Rent relaxation. Market it like mad.
Buy something that can be considered a necessity and that's durable, easy to maintain/repair, and can be small enough to be easily delivered and picked up.
Jumpy houses bro
r/turo comes to mind
Cameras, lenses, lightings
Photobooths for weddings
Houses in the Midwest. Section 8 for guaranteed rents, and stable, long term tenants. Gov doesn’t care what you bought the house for, they pay based on # of bedrooms. Just make sure you have a thorough screening.
I want to put up Christmas lights tomorrow, but i don’t own a ladder. So, tomorrow morning I’m renting one.
I have a bunch of wedding props and signage available that people rent for weddings. Lots of money in events
Buy a few vending machines, stock them and collect your income weekly. Seems simple enough
I did a yacht.

Monthly expenses run around $15k for the biz

A robot. Oh, wait for next year
Why is this the business you want to get into? Arbitrage (what a rental business is) is notoriously high risk, thin margins. Sure when it works it can be great, but when it doesn't it can ruin you. You're laying out capital to purchase a depreciating asset while having to hustle constantly to bring in revenue from it while praying nothing goes wrong.
Here are some ideas of things you can buy and then rent out for money:
Vacation rental properties: This can be a lucrative investment, but it's important to do your research and make sure you're buying in a popular tourist destination. You'll also need to be prepared to manage the property yourself or hire a property manager.
Airbnb-ready apartments or rooms: This is a great way to generate income from your unused space. You'll need to make sure your apartment or room is well-maintained and inviting to guests.
Storage units: Storage units are in high demand, especially in urban areas. You can buy an existing storage facility or build your own.
Equipment rentals: There are many different types of equipment that you can rent out, such as power tools, party supplies, and camping gear. This can be a good option if you have a lot of storage space.
Baby and kids' gear: Baby and kids' gear can be expensive to buy, so many parents are happy to rent it instead. Items like car seats, cribs, and strollers are popular rentals.
Formal wear: Formal wear is often used only once or twice, so many people are willing to rent it instead of buying it. You can rent out dresses, suits, and tuxedos.
Bicycles: Bicycles are a great way to get around town, and many people are willing to rent them instead of buying them. You can rent out mountain bikes, road bikes, and e-bikes.
Kayaks and paddleboards: Kayaks and paddleboards are popular for recreational activities, and many people are willing to rent them instead of buying them.
RV rentals: RV rentals are a great way to explore the country, and many people are happy to rent them instead of buying them.
Specialty vehicles: If you have a specialty vehicle, such as a food truck or a party bus, you can rent it out to people who need it for special events.
These are just a few ideas to get you started. There are many other things that you can buy and then rent out for money. The key is to find a niche market that you're interested in and that has the potential to be profitable.
If you're by some water (ocean or lake) water equipment rentals are pretty great.
SUPs, Kayaks, Surfboards or even Bikes. These are great options.
I will say, bikes are a little more annoying because the maintenance is way more, but a lot of times people like to get multiple pieces of equipment and they end up being a good additional item.
The other options are great 🤙🏼
I’m assuming you’ll be starting out in your home and unsure what your storage capacity would be. Do you live an a suburban area, with a family type demographic? Just wondering based on the products you’re thinking of renting out. Sounds like you want to rent out event type equipment, maybe try sound systems, lighting, decor, something that is IG worthy??
Are there other businesses in your area that rent out equipment and what are the equipment being rented out?
If you don’t mind me asking, where would you be based while renting out equipment? Im wondering what else does your area offer that people would potentially rent
Hope this helps
Let me know if you have any questions, hopefully I can be of help
Try buying an already running Saas with a subscription model. Ideally B2C
Big leaf vacuum/mulcher. Daily rental.
Someone once suggested renting out top of the line sex dolls…
PS 😁...I meant to say also.... Look at your car if you have one.. You can rent it out or there are companies that will pay for you to advertise their business on your car in the way of magnets..... Rent out your garage...... Rent out your driveway especially if you live near a major city..... Rent anything out in your house also.... Probably not the children or the wife or hubby though?!!! LoL 😂....
Rent a book from the library
Depending on where you are I noticed a company out here where you can rent out bean bags small tables and then projectors etc.....I thought it was really cool as I live bean bags and was thinking yeah I'll do this.... But then it's a franchise and when you buy in I think you get X amount of products and at that stage I didn't have the room...I do now.... But when I look at this like that....I think yeah these guys are onto it then something stops me and I start to think about it and think well I could easily do that too..... So think about what you like, what you see at what people want and then start to I suppose I call it reverse engineer it....... Search the products popularity where to get it from.. Designs etc..... Then go pricing and get into the Nitty gritty as this is where you will see what it will cost you as opposed to what you can buy say franchise wise.... And another thing too.... USE AI.... GET UP TO SPEED WITH IT..... IT'S FANTASTIC FOR HELPING YOU DEVELOP AND SEE IF YOUR IDEAS ARE WORTHY.... SERIOUSLY........ USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE........ BUST IT'S BRAINS NOT YOUR OWN IT WILL HELP WITH WHATEVER YOU NEED AND THERE ARE SO MANY AI TOOLS OUT THERE NOW FOR FREE OR NEXT TO FREE... IT'S THE WAY OF THE FUTURE DON'T GET LEFT BEHIND.... CHEERS GOOD LUCK.... HOPE THIS HELPED YOU.
A sheep. You can rent a ride on it.
Check out mobile pop up stores that companies rent to display product. Interesting part is that these stores come hooked up to Ecommerce giant shopify.
Does anyone have any thoughts on purchasing a soprano laser hair removal machine and doing last hair removal on the side? Whenever I ask people they always state how in demand this would be. Happy to hear others thoughts though just researching.
Dumpsters are more profitable!
Buy parking spaces, or vending machines
Events biz. Tents chairs tables etc
I dont know much about it but could look into large machinery. Mechanics background is a huge plus, otherwise as you scale you'll need one on call/employed. Contractors are all about time and money so offering delivery or a trailer rental and under cutting big box by even 10% could bring you in plenty. Easy target market as entire industries/platforms are centered around construction/Contractors.
Big drawbacks are upkeep (mechanic) and price barrier to entry but shit even towns use local shops for municipal rentals. Plenty of used machines for fractions with sell financing to boot. Just another idea, not my field.
Pimping out?
I wouldn't rent it, but a robotic stump grinder prints money. They're expensive though.
Parking space you can sublet.
Jet skis on a beach town.
But during the winter you shut down. You’d make bank 3-5 months out of the year.
Women.
Parking or garages. And if u got the money add more floors
