Calling it the department of defense, it’s easier for us to justify the “conflicts” we “end up in”. By removing the new-speak and calling it the Department of War, it’ll be easier to see our actions for what they are: waging war. Since that’s less palatable, it’ll erode public support for war. Nobel Peace Prize, please!

Just changing the letterhead on papers is going to run many $millions. Then the technology changes (codebase, email, domains, documentation, etc.) will be much worse. I can't believe it could be completed in less than 5 years.
Frankly for the rest of us the best thing Trump can do is bankrupt the US government.
At this point, I'm kind of banking on it. I'm hoping that he fucks the economy up so bad that we as a country are forced to re-evalate a few things and maybe this cancerous movement will finally die
I have mixed feelings on this one, tbh
On one hand, that was actually the original name. That changed after WW2 and to be honest I kinda think the name was part of a greater campaign to make it seem as though, somehow, the military actions that followed in the next few decades in the middle east, Asia, Latin America, etc. were actually all just "defending" the US. Which is bullshit.
On the other hand, having perhaps the most insane president this country has ever seen saying that calling it war instead of defense because its more accurate to the current times is quite concerning to say the least.

For a president who bitched nonstop about Democrats increasing national debt, he sure seems to enjoy doing it himself.
It's such a waste of money just to change the letterheads, signage, etc.
I guess he's accepted that he's not getting the Nobel. They aren't giving a Peace Prize to the guy that just created the Department of War.
Well, until and unless he can find some way to extort them into giving him one.
