Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Charlie Kirk. Kirk, 31, was the CEO...

He was only 31?

Geezus. Hate really does age you. I'm over 10 years his senior, and he looks 5 years older than me. And for once, this isn't a humble-brag.

[–] Funky_Beak@lemmy.sdf.org 56 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Right?! Like my life has been sex drugs rock and roll but i have aged way less brutally.

Same with Stephen Miller, he's my age and we do not look like the same generation of human

I would not have guessed he was 5 years younger than me. He looked like late 40s. Geez.

Unfortunately, all of the competent people at the FBI left already.

Also, don't forget that Trump very likely fucked a child and is covering it up. Release the Epstein tapes...

[–] SPRUNT@lemmy.world 66 points 10 months ago

"a child"? Trump and Epstein were best friends for decades. Trump almost certainly fucked many multiple children.

K.

In other news, Republicans blocked release of the Epstein files.

Where's the Epstein files and why is trump and Republicans covering it up?

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 108 points 10 months ago (7 children)

They don't even know where the shot was fired from, apparently.

It'd be amazing if they literally never figure this one out. There'll be conspiracy theories forever.

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 96 points 10 months ago (16 children)

I dunno, for all the alt-right frothing, Charlie Kirk doesn't seem like someone anyone will think about even a month from now, let alone set up a pin board for.

He deserved what he got, but if I was making a list of worthy targets I'd probably forget to add him.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 67 points 10 months ago

Brutal, hilarious and true.

Trump admin won't let this go to waste. They'll find a suitable patsy, then justify taking guns away from everyone except card carrying nazis, I mean GOP members.

You mean the same FBI that just got purged of competence in exchange for loyalists? Oh my.

[–] zrst@lemmy.cif.su 66 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Looking forward to a disproportionate amount of resources being dedicated to finding this guy's killer because he was popular.

America is a joke and its working class is the punchline.

Just look for a guy with a high powered rifle in Utah...

Meaning they don't think the person who shot him was black, trans or had mental health issues.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 28 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Well according to the community forum for my crazy neighborhood it's definitely a minority trans person who did this.

Also all mass shootings were done by trans people. Not even joking.

Probably a bad idea that you purged everyone in law enforcement who was good at their job but not a chud.

[–] bluefootedbooby@sopuli.xyz 49 points 10 months ago (3 children)

They'll probably pin this one on that poor, innocent, Mangione guy too!

They're looking for a white male ages 14 to 79 in Utah. So. Basically looking for a needle in a stack of several million needles.

Maybe they have too many FBI agents helping dissapear brown people and scrubbing Trump's name from the Epstein files.

[–] rozodru@piefed.social 40 points 10 months ago (14 children)

And the conspiracy theories are are already flowing. Apparently Kirk was convinced Israel was going to assassinate him so he had more security and wore body armor during public appearances recently. Another is that he pissed off the Nazi's to the point they wanted him gone. Another is that it was a distraction op.

It's been a fun read the last few hours. Like "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" so....it was probably a baby.

Oh no, better help them out with the most reliable leads I can make up on the spot.

Hi FBI, I have great news! I've done extensive My Own Research and after carefully reviewing the footage, maps of the university, and consulting with the gods of psilocybin, I have concluded with a high degree of certainty that his neck just kinda did that. Hope this helps!

Led by "it was clearly suicide" Kash Patel. While all evidence slipped away, they had the wrong guy in custody for 6 hours. This was a critical window but a bunch of sycophant gravy seals are not going to figure this out.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 24 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I’m willing to bet they’ll still find somebody to pin this on. Somebody whose skin isn’t lily white, and whose name may sound slightly foreign.

Honestly if you are going to kill someone in a high profile incident Utah is probably the best place. Easy to get into easy to get out of, for all we know the killer is gambling in Blackjack Nevada after proving their luck with that shot.

Don’t ya’ll worry. Big K Patel got this handled. Trump hired the best & brightest. Let’s Go Brandon!

[–] CromulantCrow@lemmy.zip 25 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (22 children)

I think the shooter was good, but not a professional. They knew enough to sight in their scope accurately, but not enough to account for bullet drop. Nobody aims for the neck. Odds are he was aiming for the head. If you zero in your sight for 100 yards, the bullet can drop 3 or 4 inches once it gets to 200. And he seems to have disappeared without a trace, so he planned it well. I assume he cleaned up after himself. Odds are they'll never find him.
