We definitely don't have a gun problem...

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

Let's find out how many of them are left leaning...just for funsies. I have a solid 20, there are VERY few.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago

Soooo much winning everywhere.

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

More guns than the Taliban.

[–] Reygle@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Stop the ride I want to get off

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 28 points 22 hours ago

It just shows what we can accomplish when we put our minds and ammo to it.

And why the weird fixation with Charlie Kirk, when there are actual innocents dead?

[–] waldo_was_here@piefed.social 8 points 11 hours ago

Who's charlie kirk

[–] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 62 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I have no idea, especially when Kirk was just taking one for the team according to his own words

"I think it's worth it. I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights." Charlie Kirk (April 5th, 2025)

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 day ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (3 children)

"... to protect our other God-given rights."

It fucking annoys me to no end when religious fakers spout off shit like this. God never gave 'rights' to people. He instead told believers how they should act (Matt. 22: 36-40).

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Exactly. God would probably want us to not need, want, or use the guns in the first place.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Exactly. Can those idiots find the Bible passage that tells 'every yokel should be allowed to own a gun'? Nope. Ergo: No "God-given" right. Except when they see the creators of the 2nd amendment as gods worshiped by the gun-nuts.

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

It just adds a little extra sparkle that this is coming from a chick from Hell, lol 😆

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horst-Wessel-Lied

Horst Wessel was a Nazi street fighter. He died in an argument with his landlady. He owed rent and she'd asked some local boys to be at the meeting. Turns out the locals were Communists. The Nazi Party turned Horst into a martyr and made the song about him the Party anthem.

Kirk was just lucky enough to publicly catch a bullet.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 10 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

Propaganda/Manufacturing Consent for crimes.

And Kirk knew like every republican megadonor (they all funded him). Many own or run media sites.

But yeah its exactly what a lot of media did for the leadup to the iraq war, by many of the same people (Tucker carlson for instance)

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 75 points 1 day ago (1 children)

About one mass shooting every 20 hours and 24 minutes. And this is before the USA starts fighting itself in earnest.

[–] TeamAssimilation@infosec.pub 34 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Okay, this looks bad, but… have you thought about gun makers? Their livelihood and family depends on selling guns. What will happen with little Timmy when Mr. Warmonger can’t bring bread to the table anymore?

Those people died so the little Timmy Warmongers of the world could live! Think of the children, people!

[–] SylviaPlathm@feddit.online 4 points 20 hours ago

Sure, those headlines are rough, but let's zoom in on the real tragedy: a tear running down the cheek of the CEO of Freedom Arms, Inc. His yachts might have to skip their annual polish! How will little Timmy tell his private school friends his dad can only afford a single pony this year? People, the economy is suffering! Think of the quarterly profits!

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 9 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Right on schedule I guess /s

Someone posted a tweet that said that republicans are quick to blame Tylenol for autism, but can't do the same when its about gun violence and guns.

[–] MyNameIsIgglePiggle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I blame fun violence on people being shit cunts. And the government letting those shit cunts have guns.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I'm leaving that typo in lol

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 11 points 1 day ago

Im more concerned with the state sponsored shooting that is ok for some reason. Holy shit that guy is driving away!!! Kill him dead! kill him dead!

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 16 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Only 25 more to hit that once a day average. Come on people, we can do this!

[–] cecilkorik@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

We're only 286 days into the year though, so we're already well above once a day average so far, as long as people keep the violence up we're basically guaranteed to hit it by end of year. I'm so deeply tired of this world I can't even muster up any particular sarcasm for this milestone.

[–] missingno@fedia.io 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Since it's only October, it's already more than once a day.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 hours ago
[–] darvocet@infosec.pub 3 points 1 day ago

We can totally pump these numbers up. Get serious guys.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 5 points 22 hours ago

2A in action.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Quick quick someone post the onion article

[–] motor_spirit@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

If America's most volatile don't have access to guns, then who will police the general public? Protect gun rights and our entitlement to mental health issues

[–] MOARbid1@piefed.social 3 points 22 hours ago

Cool cool cool…

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 21 hours ago

Rookie numbers.

USA at war with itself as usual

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I'm sure sending in more unidentified masked ICEstapo into urban areas to disappear people, including 15 year old girls, to who knows where will solve it!

[–] comador@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

So much winning!

[–] ozymandias@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i think usually the mass shootings definition excludes a lot of these, and usually means a more indiscriminate mass shooting… like a kid shooting random kids at a school….
maybe the looser definition is more useful and we should have another term for the indiscriminate mass shootings….
actually charlie kirk was shot while making a “point” about that….
“oh well do you include gang violence?”.

as if gang violence isn’t also an issue with gun control….

[–] sin_free_for_00_days@sopuli.xyz 2 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

"gang violence" was just another of his racist dog whistle talking points.

[–] ozymandias@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 12 hours ago

“talking points” is a dumb way to end conversations… not everyone who considers different angles is an alt-right shill….
but i do think we need a different term for people who just snap and shoot random people vs people who shoot back at people

[–] Corelli_III@midwest.social 0 points 1 day ago

sure would be neat if communities had the sovereignty to decide whether or not to allow weapons

you know instead of the system we have with the giant slave empire that ruins everything for everyone with nonsense laws and militarized cops
