How weird. And desperate. And pathetic.

[–] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 121 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Last year, Mamdani claimed to be 33 years old. Now he claims to be 34. Which is it Zohran???

[–] rindo25@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Better get your story straight.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 13 points 2 days ago

You can shorten it to a month. His birthday was on the 24th

Mmm, this is one good baby!

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Do the same pic but with trump, and the towers are two little girls.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 60 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Didn’t Donald celebrate after 9/11 because his was now the tallest building in Manhattan?

[–] mikenurre@lemmy.world 41 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yes, on a call to Howard Stern's show

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And it wasn’t even true.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 day ago

Not much that comes from his mouth is. The useless kiddie fiddling paedo couldn't tell the truth if it was on a cue card in front of him.

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 112 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Hmm... Mamdani has the support of the guy who said something nasty about 9/11.

On the other hand Cuomo has the support of the guy who has insulted the memory of every victim and survivor of 9/11 more times than we can count.

Tough choice.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Cuomo has the support of the guy who, less than a full day after the attack, was in an interview gloating about how he was so happy that he had the tallest building in Manhattan now.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

One candidate is enthusiastic, smiles and is cognitive and aware of actual issues and the priorities that go into being a mayor of such a huge and influential city and has been on his feet every day and night meeting and talking to residents.

The other looks and talks like a stereotypical villain, is reclusive, always dour and angry and confused sounding, seems unsure of even his own surroundings and can't do anything but spout negativity and scorn towards anyone and everyone else, and whenever backed into a corner starts screaming about race and ethnicity like some kind of holy-water charm against accountability and logic. And has Donald Trump's backing, as well as Trump's history with sexual scandal.

And of course the third option is a crazy cat guy who just wants to talk about the subway every chance he gets. I kinda like him though and hope he stays around in some unofficial capacity like, I would love to see him learn ASL and become Mamdani's official translator for press events.

“His parents own a mansion in Uganda, he spent a lot of time there,” Cuomo said during an interview on Fox Business. “He just doesn’t understand the New York culture, the New York values, what 9/11 meant, what entrepreneurial growth means, what opportunity means, why people came here.”

Maybe I’m a dog, cause that whistle loud.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 62 points 2 days ago

I was ABOUT to Vote for Mamdani until I found out he lived in a MANSION in UGANDA INSTEAD Of a Mansion in New York like Cuomo!

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We're way past dog whistles in the USA.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But you can't use a fog horn on a dog. They are way too loud.

[–] Qwaffle_waffle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

What??

*cups one ear with a hand * /s

I THINK THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT BEING PROUD!

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

so Mamdani should join the mafia?

[–] Englishgrinn@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

When they can win without being gross, they do so.

When they have to dogwhistle, they do so.

When they are definitely going to get their ass kicked, This Shit happens.

When they lose, they'll cheat.

If they get caught, they'll get violent.

I say that like a grim potential, but honestly I think NYC might be ready for them

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Reminds me of post 9/11 America. Anti Muslim hate and hate crimes became normal and celebrated. Americans sang koombayah about how united they were in their hate for brown people. Anyone who spoke out got cancelled, and anyone who defended muslims was called a terrorist

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Oh look, fascism was here all along.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 62 points 2 days ago (3 children)

How does that message make sense in any framework besides racism?

[–] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The stated idea is that because Mamdani hates Israel, he is therefore in favor of Hamas, and therefore global islamist terrorism. It's a major stretch but people like my parents have been fed a nonstop stream of propaganda leading to shit like this since 9/11 happened.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Mamdani hates Israel

As proven by his refusal to commit to fucking traveling there right away as seemed to be a requirement for New York mayoral candidates... in the most absurd debate I've ever watched.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 13 points 2 days ago

🔔🔔🔔

Hey, it worked for Trump. Not in New York, though...

[–] DaMummy@lemmy.world 36 points 2 days ago

Is he seriously doing the Family Guy 9/11 meme?

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago

So are they trying to show that Mamdani was in his teens when 911 happened? If so, then he should be in a leadership position, because typically, throughout American history, the futures of the young haven't been determined by people who should have died a decade ago.

It sounds like he's a contemporary to me, but what really interests me is that he promotes ideas and programs that seem to exclusively help, real, actual people that live, work, and breathe in his city, regardless of their social standing, or the number or properties they own. Almost like he embodies the the spirit of large amounts of the Constitution and declaration of Independence.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What I know of him, he's been very outspokenly pro-American and anti-violence, but he'll never back down from siding with someone just because they're Muslim.

That doesn't matter to the fascists though, he'll be put with "Pro Islam == Pro Terrorism" regardless. It's pure racism, and they will always find some utterance of his and twist it to fit their agenda.

[–] balsoft@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago

very outspokenly pro-American

This might be his worst quality actually

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 1 points 1 day ago

The Fascists? Obviously they're racist

How about the Democrats? Every goddamn interview they're like "hey, so we saw you with a brown person who looked kinda angry earlier, would you like to disavow claims that you're planning another 9/11?"

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 23 points 2 days ago

This is a great interview with Mamdani if you haven't had a chance to see him live- Jon Stewart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2_cRrKScvE
