Honey can you grab me a mushroom?

From bathroom floor?

No, from the couch.

There's not many.

Then grab the ones from the rafters.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 25 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The bathroom mushrooms are for fish

The rafter mushrooms are for beef

The closet mushrooms are for salads

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 7 points 3 weeks ago

Standing over the sink, late at night, eating some closet mushrooms.

Must be a construction worker .... those look like some serious callouses

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

I want to scratch it off. Oh god, please let me scratch it off.

[–] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 34 points 3 weeks ago

Well, there's an idea.

[–] rbos@lemmy.ca 29 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Does this significantly damage the wood?

[–] oranges_in_my_a55@sh.itjust.works 49 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Yes, the body of the fungus grows through and digests the wood slowly, this is literally rot with the bonus of food production… though you probably wouldn't wanna eat these depending on what they’re growing on, as they can suck up toxins which you then eat.

[–] rbos@lemmy.ca 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, I'd imagine treated wood wouldn't be great.

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 weeks ago

In the wild I find them growing on maples and alders. Douglas fir construction lumber and plywood fruit should be avoided.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 24 points 3 weeks ago

I forgot you guy have wooden houses and wondered how that happened...

[–] Krudler@lemmy.world 28 points 3 weeks ago

This is 9-dimensionally triggering for me.

Excellent post.

Does looking at this make anyone else start wheezing?

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 23 points 3 weeks ago

I don't see a problem. All I see is a week's supply of mushrooms.

[–] ignoble_stigmas@sh.itjust.works 19 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Treat them with respect and kindness and they won’t be aggressive.

[–] X@piefed.world 18 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

what if I want them to be aggressive? be disrespectful and cruel?

[–] ignoble_stigmas@sh.itjust.works 14 points 3 weeks ago

Talk with them, set the rules, consent is the key.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

You might just need a different type of mushroom.
