13, without the pillow, is kinda how babies/toddlers sometimes sleep (once they can roll over).

[–] gwl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Why do half the images look blurry and weird and ugly? Is it AI slop or something?

[–] jade52@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

Yep it be the slop alright

[–] Sergio@piefed.social 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

None of these involve an anime body pillow.

16, but my hands go over my junk. Just in case one of my dogs jumps up on to the bed in the middle of the night. It's saved me a couple of times now.

Sometimes 18 if the cat won't shut up...

The best position for brain health isn't shown. Right side.

This is an except from the linked PDF:

Sleeping position

Optimizing one’s sleeping position is a possible behavioral manipulation that may enhance glymphatic flow. Body posture during sleep affects the direction of gravity relative to the cerebrovascular system, changing the resistance to blood and CSF flow in the brain (Martin-Du Pan et al., 2004). Lee et al. (2015) showed that glymphatic transport in rats is more effective in a right lateral than in supine or prone positions. Healthy humans with a preference to sleep in a right lateral position showed longer SWS time and shorter REM sleep time compared to individuals with a preference to sleep in supine position (Zhang et al., 2022b). In line with this, sleeping in a supine position was associated with reduced SWS and REM sleep time compared to non-supine positions in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (Alfaiate et al., 2023). Intriguingly, it has been shown that patients with MCI, AD, and Lewy body dementia spend more time with their head in the supine than in non-supine (i.e., prone or lateral) positions during sleep compared to healthy age- matched controls (Levendowski et al., 2019)

I rotate through five or six of these all night long.

Number 3, but then i got old and knees would get sore if bent. So now I lay perfectly straight on my side, which somehow isn't represented here.

[–] miked@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I met someone that actually slept like number 13.

In my early 20's several friends had a summer house on the Jersey shore. I would visit every few weeks. There were always other friends crashing there as well.

Girl told us she slept this way and sure enough, we found her that way in the morning.

A mix of 2, 9 and 11, with a sprinkle of 5 as well

[–] Bonifratz@piefed.zip 4 points 1 month ago

I think 3 comes closest, but I'm less curled up and generally sleep on my right side.

[–] Bosht@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

13 is temporary if I have bad gas and need to rip one. The rest of the night is just slow rotating like a rotisserie chicken until I pass out.

I don't know. I'm always sleep so I can't see.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago
[–] Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org 3 points 1 month ago

I change back and forth between half of these.

[–] myrmidex@belgae.social 3 points 1 month ago

9 is my optimal position, I'm asleep in 2 minutes tops. I tried sleeping on my back but that feels weird. I reckon that has to do with how I was positioned as an 80s baby

[–] webkitten@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago

#3 with one cat on the shoulder and the other behind the knees.

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

17, but with a long body pillow under the bent arm+leg and a regular pillow positioned like 2

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

With OP's mom.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 3 points 1 month ago

3 or 15 but always painful after a while
