If anyone put the idea in his head, there is no doubt in my mind he'd try to have himself carved into it. I firmly believe the only reason he hasn't is because he hasn't remembered it exists.

In response, most experts agree that if they even attempt it, the mountain isn't strong enough to support any more deep rock drilling. If they try, the likelyhood is, the entire mountain and all 4 heads collapse and crumble into itself.

Considering the US violated treaties to destroy land with significant spiritual significance just to capture the Six Grandfathers and turn it into Mount Rushmore, it would absolutely be for the best.
