Good news! The democrats will win a landslide victory in 2026 and guarantee you health care!

Until 2028 when they need to compromise with the republicans on a spending bill.

[–] doctordevice@lemmy.ca 28 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Somehow everything the Democrats promise takes until very close to the cycle after they're elected until they even talk about it. Then, of course, they need your votes again so they can do the thing they promised the first time. Then (Insert Needed # of Dems here) will have some problem with it so it falls through and Dems lose the next cycle because of some reason that is the voters' fault.

dems(*DNC) dont want to lose thier only single issue voter cards: healthcare,,,etc. which is why they always try to use it as a carrot, and drops it or half-ass it when they get elected.

I remember that time Obama gave us universal health care. Good times. 😕

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

doubtful, if they are just having newsom, for '28. especially with Walz dropping out in minnesota, is problematic, because the gop/conservatives are trying hard to get a GOP elected in that state. if he can back down from a race this easy, it would be easy for republicans to keep threatening people til they dont run anymore.

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Even if support for democrats is at a landslide level, there's a whole lot of things that the Trump admin can do to avoid them getting a victory, starting with voter suppression and ending with lying about the results.

They do not want you in Iran.

They do not want you in Japan.

They do not want you here or there.

They do not want you anywhere.

They do not want you. Understand?

Just calm the fuck down, Uncle Sam.

[–] underisk@lemmy.ml 39 points 2 weeks ago

No problem, those weren’t for you anyway. They’re for Exxon, Chevron. Elon, and all of Trumps friends and sycophants to divide up amongst themselves.

[–] echo@lemmings.world 36 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Amen - I could retire early and comfortably if I had guaranteed healthcare. As it is, I'll have to work until I die.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 30 points 2 weeks ago

Just the way they want it.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

If you retire, how are the billionaires supposed to extract maximum profit out of you? Now get back to work, you lazy slob!

Republican's response:

A little bit of Venezuela in my life
A little bit of Greenland by my side
A little bit of Cuba is all I need
A little bit of Canada is what I see
A little bit of Mexico in the sun

Fuck my life. I just found out my medicine (life saving, cannot live without medicine) has gone up in price 10x because of new insurance I got this year. Fuck me, right? In other countries, it's pennies, here it's hundreds of dollars.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

i just got too much income to use the state healthcare, but the ACA subsidies has ended? so i cant really afford that anyways. and i have chronic skin conditions which means i would need refills often.

[–] Bryllyg@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

try contacting the manufacturer, maybe they have a program to help make it affordable.

[–] Sanguine@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 weeks ago

I'm sure they know that. Point of the post is that they shouldn't have to.

I would have loved a North American Union with free trade, freedom of movement, and shared currency between Canada, the US, and Mexico, maybe even Cuba as well if it didn't infringe on their communism. But that was a dream from a more naive time when we could've been better neighbors.

These days it's enough to demand that our borders and healthcare costs don't increase. No new wars, no new territories, and we need to let Puerto Rico choose between statehood and independence.

Hey US Americans, quick reminder that quality, affordable healthcare is available abroad; I use it and you can ask about healthcare here or in travel.

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If I ever get cancer then this is the route I’m going to cure it. Fuck this country when it comes to how they rob you if you have cancer.

I am right there with you. In Cambodia, I was friends with a group of old guys from the US and all four of them were able to treat serious medical conditions by avoiding US "healthcare". One of them had won a years-long battle against cancer right before i met them which he never could have afforded in the US.

Would have died years ago in the US, instead he was sitting around a table eating sushi and drinking beer with friends.

My health problems have largely been dental, and Thailand dentists unequivocally superseded the quality of care in the US for less than 1/3 of the cost at the relatively expensive bangkok clinic, BIDC.

If you ever want info about health care abroad, reach out to me at Travel.

There's some good healthcare info in this post, too.

Healthcare make line go down in the short term

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

hes using this to distract from the epstein files, which hurts alot of gop and billionaires, coicdentally they were suppose to release the files around the time of the attack.

hes doing everything to make it stick so it can overshadow any news on the epstein files, the MSMS are totally complicit.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Invading a sovereign nation, kidnapping their leader, and saying "we run this country now" is not a fucking distraction.

Threatening to do the same to several nations that used to be our allies is not a fucking distraction.

How can people be this fucking ignorant

[–] pedz@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Just engage in the army and kill people for free health care.

I can guarantee that if the Americans try to take Canada a whole lot of them will have all their healthcare worries taken care of.

Trump: We have healthcare, the best healthcare actually. Better than anybody else. Some people say… you get it

The healthcare at home: Venezuelan oil

[–] Schadrach@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

We have healthcare, the best healthcare actually

We actually do. We have some of the best healthcare in the world if you can afford it, and healthcare stats that make it absolutely clear just how few people that is.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

Trump voter's response as they die from an easily treatable disease: He's right, though, we do.

(A) Yes.
(B) No, keep going to war and doing other shit to distract us!
