Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

A racist, anti-choice, election truther, climate science denialist, Russia stooge, and Trump stan? His family have my sympathies for their loss, but it's hard to imagine that politics in general isn't better off without him.

The greatest gift any Republican can give the world is their death.

I wish that I could upvote this more than once.

What about turtle ice cream? It has chocolate and caramel.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 1 week ago

Oh no, anyways…

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago

Just like CK or Dick Cheney, my sympathy had already been reserved for other countless victims of conservative ignorance and greed.

To celebrate or not; one certainly is not obligated to mourn.

I heard he was known for doing what he was told to do.

And nothing of value was lost.

Finally an evil politician dies before turning 90.

Looks like Karma is back from vacation.

I mean it'll be nice for it to work a little faster.

There's a lot of folks who seem to be getting a free pass on evil acts without any repercussions.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Wonder if the pizzagate dumbasses are gonna blame this on Hillary and her pillow, too?

NorCal will just elect another like him. A shitload of boomer retirees moved to NorCal over the last decade +. The Sacramento/Northern California people made Rush Limbaugh popular, so I don’t think we’re going to see much of a change.

just some weird (or maybe fun) horoscope stuff

this doug(dead), jake paul(knackered jaws) and stephen miller(still alive) are born on year the of the OX.

Ox on this year has been predicted to have a messed up health for the month of january and november.

...there's still 24 days left before january ends.

Shit. Me too. Better get that flu shot.

mods, this is offtopic but i hope you dont mind

these are just general reading for monkeys

health is kinda good for the rest of the year, but there are some small dips around feb to march and on aug to sept

career and wealth is all over the place, major dips around jan, march, june and nov

relationships is also a bit concerning, major dips on feb to apr and sept.

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't tell me that... I just made bad financial decisions...

Cries in year of the Ox

[–] RelativeArea1@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

well, it seems like...that might reflect at around apr to july and nov, nov will be the most concerning one for oxes.

[–] ChonkyLincoln@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago

Oh no, anyways

And nothing of value was lost but we all know that this crap human Republican will be replaced by the next crap human Republican.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How many more do we need to win....er...not die off in the gas chambers?

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

4 more on top of the 2 current vacancies.

[–] helvetpuli@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wait, given that this is the day after MTG's retirement, does that mean that the house just flipped?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

No. Was 220-213 with 2 vacancies.

MTG left - 219-213.

This guy dies - 218-213.

Even if the vacancies get filled with Democrats that's still 218-215.

So 4 more seats need to change to flip it. 2 Republicans + 2 vacancies.

[–] helvetpuli@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 week ago

Thanks. I thought it was closer than that. :(

[–] Weirdmusic@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Or 5 disaffected Republicans decide the time is right..
