The most honest thing to ever happen online.

[–] Fluffy_Ruffs@lemmy.world 87 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Arguing on the Internet in a nutshell.

[–] HonoraryMancunian@lemmy.world 44 points 3 days ago (2 children)
[–] banazir@lemmy.ml 38 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Have you ever argued on the Internet?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh look, this isn't an argument.

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.org 29 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 28 points 3 days ago (2 children)

No it isn't. It's just contradiction.

[–] Hupf@feddit.org 21 points 3 days ago (3 children)

I'm not gonna argue on the Internet if I have to pay, you know.

[–] pitaya@lemmy.zip 16 points 3 days ago

you know

No I don't

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

Look, I don't want to argue about that.

[–] jamie_veal@feddit.org 2 points 3 days ago

You didn't pay, tho.

You're right.

just in case some of the younger folks don't get the reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohDB5gbtaEQ

Have you read their works?

I read like 50 pages of Menschliche allzu Menschliches. I think this is a great reference to his imaginary friends he created for himself in lack of real ones.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

I mean...

Have you read his works? Who the fuck can tell what he actually spoke about or not? Or what's satirical or serious?

I gave-up on reading him, because I certainly can't.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago

I'm sorry you're right. I was silly to have thought that.

(Cheat code to get out of any argument)

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 38 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Ugh, this is the exact thing Nietzsche was talking about.

No.

(I did Philosophy undergrad and honestly never read a single Nietzsche work. Have to look up his name to spell it correctly.)

[–] axexrx@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

My philosophy professor once joked that there was no point teaching neitzsche anymore since coke and heroin were illegal. He also call him knee-cheese whenever he was brought up, for fun.

[–] Tonava@sopuli.xyz 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Oh I love philosophy professors and their personal hot takes! I had one that was obsessed with Heidegger and used half a lecture to argue with himself about his nazi allegations. Amazing to see in person

edit// uh. that probably sounded a bit too cryptic if someone doesn't know who Heidegger was. He was a nazi, but the controversy in philosophy is how much it affected his work

[–] pruwybn@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 days ago

Yes he did.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

I watched The Good Place, does that count?

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 22 points 3 days ago

I for one would be pleased if this level of honesity was normal online. Admitting that no one reads Nietzschean works is the first step.

[–] edinbruh@feddit.it 38 points 4 days ago (3 children)

You know, Quasimodo predicted all this

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Gabiblio had afterdicted this.

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 11 points 4 days ago

Me in a nutshell (both people)

[–] kartoffelsaft@programming.dev 7 points 3 days ago

While Nietzsche spoke of this, we will unfortunately never know if he wrote of it because I can't read.

[–] steeznson@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Source: It came to me in a dream

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.today 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

doesn't matter if you read it or not, it never makes much sense until it does and then you are basically beyond mentioning it in polite conversation

(you know who has read it and who hasn't after you have read it)

[–] Hoimo@ani.social 5 points 3 days ago

I tried to read it, but I was filtered by the first chapter being a rant about how no one wanted to buy his books. (I think it's Genealogy that does that?)

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

(you know who has read it and who hasn't after you have read it)

By the hollow look in the eyes of the ones who have read his works?

So, you prefer Freud to Nietzsche?

[–] rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I ship Freud/Nietzsche.
