Its hard to call it a prediction when he literally just said it himself

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

When the trash humans are saying they will do this and that. When they publish it. Its not a prediction.

King Trump II

[–] Garbagio@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago

I mean theoretically, Vance doesn't need a cult, just more electoral college votes than Dems. Which, dems have done an amazing job for the last decade destroying any chance of that.

But he's vile, and not a blabbering moron

It said he'd shit his pants on live TV in the oval office?

The people who needed to be convinced think the New York Times is globalist propaganda. If they even noticed the existence of this article they would assume it was a made up smear campaign against Dear Leader.

Also, our media (even the "liberal media") is part of the problem. For example, they did such a terrible job explaining Trump's attempts to steal the 2020 election that to this day even many anti-Trump Americans don't understand how fucked up it was.

The primary blame is on the sociopaths in charge and the troglodytes who voted them in, but there is plenty of guilt to go around.

[–] BigDiction@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

My folks didn’t even know the fake elector story until Liz Cheney’s book came out. That was Dec 2023

60 Minutes didn’t cover fake electors until Feb 2024.

Like it or not, this is likely on par with the experience of tens of millions of American voters.

Totally agreed, media failed to present the full scope of the conspiracy and did it way too fucking late.

[–] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 hours ago

if the average voting american knew how to read they would be very upset!

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 111 points 1 day ago (10 children)

I worked in news media in the Bush years and I got to see first hand how our national news promoted the lies coming from the Bush administration and helping spearhead support for an Iraq invasion.

The media has been a problem for a long time.

So…. I am going to express my opinion that Trumpism is merely the latest, not so different, expression of American capitalism that has always been this nasty and poisonous. And this includes the raids and round ups currently in the news.

There are some things that changed: the targets and oppressed have changed for some. The messaging has changed.

It’s a fad. This will fade soon enough, and things will still be bad. The good guys will be elected and clean up some of the stuff, but most of what they do will be ineffective. And then the next bad guy will come to power

[–] balsoft@lemmy.ml 9 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Who are the "good guys"? The only remotely non-evil person who had a serious bid for president is Sanders, the rest are straight up pieces of shit who bankroll genocides, bomb civilians, and empower their billionaire donors. Even then, Sanders is ineffective, somewhat zionist, and old, and I don't see a viable young replacement even for someone like him.

In the US, the political mainstream isn't "good guys vs bad guys", it's 80% hitler vs 100% hitler.

[–] limer@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 hours ago

I feel like there are not any good and effective leaders or movements. At least not nationally

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

And even Sanders parroted the "they have a right to defend themselves" rhetoric when push came to shove

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 hours ago

At least he called himself a thing that we could all then google and find something better to work towards

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 0 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Stalin was not capitalist. This happens in spite of the economic system.

History? What does that have to do with a crank inserting a non sequitur?

[–] garretble@lemmy.world 15 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Based on what toady Mike Johnson and trump have been saying today/yesterday about how the GOP should control elections, I have a lot of worry that there will never be any more "good guys" elected.

Exactly.

What Donald is doing has always occurred. It's just been better hidden, and he doesn't care to hide any of it. The corruption we're seeing now is only new if you've never cracked open a history book.

Don't leave out the part where all public school male students would be required to take military aptitude screening...one step shy on universal conscription

tbf, an america politician actually honestly laying out what the intend to do to the public and then carrying out is a massive outlier

In 2024, everything was already laid out for everybody to see clear as day - Trump1.0, MAGA's behavior since 2021, Project 2025...

BTW, in 2016, both Mary Trump and Tony Schwartz predicted Jan 6 21: "If he loses the next election, he won't go willingly."

Ever since Jan 6 21 it's been crystal clear where this goes if he wins again.

Rightoids are unbelievably predictable. Meet one in public and you could guess everything that comes out of their mouth from the very beginning of the conversation

Only actual fucking idiots are unable to realize how predictable rightoids are
