I read about Christian Bale drinking tubs of microwaved ice-cream to weight gain and I hope that is not a normal occurence for anyone.

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I thought that was Ryan Gosling. He did it without the Director's permission, gained 60 pounds and was fired for it. It was for the movie "The Lovely Bones."

drinking tubs of microwaved ice-cream

it's called a milkshake

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 1 points 17 hours ago

Is that sort of hot, thick milkshake what the song was all about?

I had a friend who was bulking up and could not physically fit any more grilled chicken into his body so he started taking olive oil shots.

Somehow, microwaved ice cream sounds like a worse experience

I feel like there's a middle ground between grilled chicken and olive oil shots/ice cream soup that wasn't explored.

Blended Chicken Alfredo?

bulking

grilled chicken

That was his first mistake

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

bulking
olive oil shots

Second mistake

[–] lemmyartistforhire@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I trust you. But you also seem biased about somebody eating chicken, considering your name.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My name was a typo. It was supposed to be "Life Lady Loves Chicken".

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

Strange. My sister has that on her wall, right above "live laugh love"

[–] JordanZ@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I’d imagine bulking in this context is muscle and likely was after the protein. Had a competition body building co-worker and the amount of chicken he put away in a day was staggering.

Microwaved icecream sounds like Starbucks without the caffeine

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 8 points 2 days ago

Defrosted ice is pretty good too.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Like injecting olive oil into his veins?

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not as extreme as I though.

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

Neither are you. /s

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Loaded into some sort of shotgun shell is another possibility.

[–] saturn_888@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Honestly, when bulking, the worse the food is the better. You want it to be bland

[–] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

so, hear me out, when the ice cream is frozen too hard, microwaving it for like 5 - 10 seconds can really get it soft and melty in a good way - especially around the edges. Also makes it easier on your wrists to scoop out.

Not suggesting you microwave it into a soup like Bale, but microwaving ice cream is a hack I have long resisted but have turned to in times of need.

[–] Polkira@piefed.ca 16 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I usually just run the scoop under hot water for a few seconds, usually cuts right through the ice cream.

[–] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

that's like what normal people do, but I married into a family that is very creative about their ice cream

my father in law takes the ice cream out of the tub and uses a chef's knife to cut it into portions, for example

my partner is the one who taught me to microwave ice cream

and tbh, it's much harder to get the tap hot enough and to wait for the water to heat the scoop than it is to just microwave the tub for 5 - 10 seconds.

It's horrible, I know.

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cutting it into portions allows you to make almost anything into an ice cream sandwich.

Cuz now you got ice cream slices.

You can even have an ice cream steak.

Cutting is brilliant

[–] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I have never once thought I needed to cut my ice cream with a fucking knife, lol

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I did it once while I was stoned and has some sugar wafers on hand.

Made sugar wafer ice cream sammies 5/7 no notes.

I made stroopwaffel ice cream sandwiches once. Bliss in the form of coronary disease.

well, now I have to try it

That looks awesome ngl

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fun fact. One of the older ice cream scoops invented was hollow aluminum filled with liquid. The theory was as your hand waremd the metal then the water, the scoop portion would be warmed, thus enabling easier scooping!

Are they good?

Uh, that sounds great, I'm gonna Micky some cream

I have had a few stretches in my life where I gained about one pound per day. It's easy: just eat 3500 extra calories per day (so 6000 calories for an average-sized man). Maybe this is difficult for some people, but I never had any problem eating an entire box of Little Debbie zebra cakes in one sitting as a snack (that's about 1500 calories right there).

The truly horrifying thing about weight gain vs. weight loss is how easy the former is compared to the latter. Burning off that quickly-forgotten Little Debbie snack requires either a 25 mile 2 hour bike ride or eating 2000 calories a day instead of 2500 (which does suck) for an entire week.

and claim how they need wegovy or omezpic to lose weight.

With AI, we can now actually personalize the food they eat to your preference, making whatever you eat look bad.
