Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

short version: baby had measles when she was too young to be vaccinated. She recovered, only to die ten years later of a rare complication of measles. :'(

Herd immunity is real. Vaccinate your kids !

This keep going ppl are going to keep their kids in bubbles until old enough for vaccines. My relatives child got covid 3x the first year of his life. Like its insane.

Gut wrenching. The pain that conspiracy parrots have caused is so painful. Fuck ‘em all! Don’t believe a word they ever say. They just want to be right regardless of the human toll. The only thing they want is you believing their lies so they can add a mark on the tally they’ve turned — regardless of the cost.

Fuck ‘em all!

I was vaccinated and still got it as a kid. I was hospitalized for it.

I was young so I can't recall much except I kept accidentally ripping out the iv and eventually they put my arm in a wood box thing to keep me from moving it.

My mom says though that I almost died.

And I was vaccinated. A few people are still vulnerable even with it. It's why everyone needs to be vaccinated for it to work.

I'm lucky. I didn't have any long term cognitive or hearing damage. But a lot of kids do.

In this case, the baby was five months old. You would normally vaccinate your baby at 11 or 12 months. But yeah. Vaccinate your children!

That's why we used to vaccinate everyone. Babies younger than vaccination age can't catch it if there is nobody to catch it from.

Herd immunity ain’t no joke!

[–] SreudianFlip@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

I don’t understand how that isn’t obvious to everyone but the deranged.

Some people need concrete examples because they can't work things out in the abstract. So it's a good thing this is in the NYT, so plenty of conservatives will see it.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The NYT throws the left a bone every now and then in an attempt to hide them kissing up to fascists. It kind of works too, for the busy people. You have to check it out for awhile to understand that it's 90% shit.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The problem is that it's 90% stories that don't really lend themselves to partisan outcomes. Their fascism comes out only once in a while, when Sulzberger thinks it's important.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Vaccination shouldnt be partisan. wtf is wrong with people

That was a hard read. And that last picture... please get your kids vaccinated, guys.
