Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

From the Wired article:

“Once a guy sent me a video with Emily’s nude on a tablet on a pillow, and he was basically recording himself fucking the pillow,” he says. “It was incredibly weird, but he sent me a $50 tip, so I was like, OK, do what you want.”

This is chaotic good.

Taking money from racist idiots and giving to the poor Indian.

Unfortunately they also use AI to screw over old people.

[–] faintwhenfree@lemmus.org 2 points 1 day ago

I've seen people argue that's what scammers are doing, taking money from. Boomers and giving it to poorer generation. I don't know if it's good.

From another article:

“Democrats know that it’s AI slop, so they don’t engage as much,” Sam said, before claiming, “The MAGA crowd is made up of dumb people — like, super dumb people. And they fall for it.”

Best scammer ever.

Yeah, I remember seeing a similar comment in the early days of the propaganda for the Tea Party. They basically said they tried it with liberals and they just fact-checked it and shut it down in two posts on Facebook or reddit. Never got traction.

He's not the hero we deserve, but he's the hero we need, or something.

[–] TaterTot@piefed.social 50 points 1 day ago

He isn't the Hero we wanted...

But he is the Villain they deserve.

Clowning on these people is fun and all, but even if she was a real person, falling for that kind of propaganda is just so damn weird. Let's go to war, there's hot chicks

My (nearly 80) uncle used to show me random Youtube videos and then other videos would start auto-playing. It was always beautiful young blonde women (real ones, this was before AI) spouting the standard right-wing talking points. He would say "see, she's making a lot of sense" and I would ask him how it was that a blonde teenage girl had somehow arrived at the same "wisdom" that he had spent a lifetime accumulating. That actually made him think for a while, but he always forgot it by the next time around.

[–] MasterBlaster@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, I long ago noticed all the Fox news women had a very particular look. I concluded rather quickly it was to capture the simp factor of a specific type of mark.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 1 day ago

I once saw grid of photos of the talking head women at Fox News, and literally every one of them looked alike - chiseled facial features with lots of big blonde hair. They were nearly indistinguishable from each other.

Roger Ailes definitely had a type. We also found out later that they all had to give him a blowjob to get their positions.

conservatives swooned over a AI blondie in military uniform a few weeks ago.

[–] MasterBlaster@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Morons be moron-ing. These people should be studied meticulously to find out what kind of Life Experiences lead to this kind of moronic mental state, and then put a halt to it to save other ~~slow~~ gullible people from being turned into morons.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We have decades if not centuries of studies like these already. Some people are gullible, and get got to first by the well funded propaganda machine. You think there wasn't tons of studies done on the German people around in the 50's/60's?

The wrong people learned the wrong lesson and weaponized it.

Bro! You gay? How many red blooded, god fearing men jacked to an Indian dude? Hahahaha

[–] wake@quokk.au 29 points 1 day ago

Actually Indian(s)

[–] MasterBlaster@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

... And Chinese, Indonesian, Russian, etc., etc.. pretty much anybody who wants to see America crash and burn. On the flip side we got people over here trying to do the same to them.

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 day ago

Actually Indians

[–] tacoplease@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If that flag didn’t give it away, they deserve to be grifted.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Like they know what their own flag looks like. Most MAGAs have never left the county before, their universe is about 80 miles across.

[–] sexual_tomato@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Most maga people I know are from Texas; they consistently use the Chilean flag emoji 🇨🇱 thinking it's the Texas flag

[–] MasterBlaster@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

We have a dissapointing number of them in New England. I've seen the don't tread on me flag more times than I'd like to admit. Ben Franklin would be disappointed.

Also, the groups of protestors over the years waving their stupidity like a banner.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

True. A road trip for them is probably one county over.
