Ugh I got an email like that just a few days ago. "Make a 3min video explaining why you want to work for us and what you bring to the table". I sway back and forth between refusing to be their stupid dancing monkey and being desperate enough for a new job to consider it. The company itself seems like a shitshow (an AI startup that works with insurance companies) but the job posting itself is in exactly the niche I like with the exactly the technologies I specialize in and the pay is extremely competitive. Honestly idk if I'm gonna go for it or if I have any ounce of self-respect.

That seems like a great topic to cover at the end of the interview, at least traditionally.
That sucks you are in the situation, but what you said in your post plus a quick intro could probably get you a 3 min clip. If you are desperate to switch jobs you got this!
I tried convincing my friend of this but she really, really believes that she just needs to add more skills to her resume.
I hate how much this is me right now. I hate it here
.mov or. mov 👁️👄👁️
The difference is the encoding, choose carefully ☝️
Please Master/Goddes I really want the job so desperate!
It’s bad. Very bad.
I spent the past month or so looking for my first job out or school. And so many places make you jump through hoops or have humiliation session interviews.
The place I accepted the offer from called me once for screening. Then set up a technical interview.
The technical interview was half of it talking about who I am. What I like to do. What I want to work on etc. and the other half them explaining what the job is, why it’s a great opportunity etc.
Next day I got the offer. Simplest process ever and not humiliating at all. Felt like the exception. There are decent people out there still.
So your technical interview was a regular interview and not a technical one?
And often, the places with all the hoops are terrible places to work. Because guess what, they make you jump through hoops to do your job, and everything else.
I only decided to agree to an automated interview once and it wasn’t worth it. First there was just knowledge test in form of quiz, which after completing with decent result they invited me to second stage and it required me to read a question in 10s and then record my response from webcam in 30s. It was cringe af and I hated it, but decided to just swallow it at that point. Then they invited me to 3rd stage. When I learned that it’s also automated and involves webcam I said thank you. No more. If it was just the initial quiz I'd think they’re smart to filter out people who lie in resume, but 3 stages and I can’t still talk to a human - no thanks.
I haven't interviewed anywhere in nearly a decade, but damn, the human interaction part is so important. These are your potential future coworkers, a vibe check goes both ways.
I don't think I'd even do the first automated interview, tbh. If a human is going to be involved in hiring me down the line, they can damn well be present while I'm answering their questions.
Speaking as someone who used to do interviews and hiring, I wouldn't even have wanted this shit involved. I can filter candidates just fine on my own. I don't need all the automated bullshit or HR in the way. They don't know what they're doing. We had some rudimentary application that would reject applicants before sending us a list of approved ones to consider and it was awful. I constantly had to go into the reject list and manually pull applications to interview because the ones it sent me sucked.
"You must have 15 years experience working for this company"
-Startup Company
”We need someone with 10 years of experience with this API”
”I’m the creator of this API, and I created it 7 years ago”
”Unfortunately, we regret to inform you you’re not qualified for this position”
It's wild that that basically happened
Really? What is it referring to? Regardless, I'd believe it.

“Great, I have a 40 years experience.”
“Unfortunately you are too old.”
But also explain this GAP of 2 months in your C.V. 16 years ago.
Ai engineer entry level job
look inside
5+ years ai experience
I don't know what it is, but it's always the menial warehouse, data entry, QA, etc. positions that ask for cover letters.
"Detail oriented founder 10x manager guy"? Just send us your resume so we can send you a rejection letter a month from now.
"Lift up to 50 lbs."? Lets put an entire interview into the form. Why this company. Why are you passionate about this work. Tell us about your 5 years of experience we require you to have to pick up and put down objects and type what you did into a computer. Why did you leave each previous job you had. How do you handle being assigned more work than can be done in your workday. Tell us about a time you did that. Have you previously worked here. If yes, tell us about the experience [required even if no]. Link your linkedin profile so we can assume you're a bot for not sharing your entire professional life.
It's because they have lots of people that are hard to disqualify.
yep, all of my "career" jobs have been gotten through referral or direct recruitment from my network of former co-workers. All of my BS application/interview experiences have been for the sort of job that just needs a warm body in the seat.
I have never gotten a job from referral or recruitment. I think I might be too autistic for that.
Please enter all the lines of your résumé separately in our form.
Which will he turned back into a text file for our llm to ingest.
.mov? What is this? The dark ages?
All video recorded on an iDevice defaults to HEVC h.265 .mov. QuickTime is dead (at least to the public) but the codecs are an industry standard.
They really want it to be a .mov file, not a .mp4 file. Don't fuck this up or they'll ghost you.
No, they want 3 different takes of it. Two in .mov, and one in .mp4. Don't fuck that up or they'll send out a "don't hire this guy" to every company they have contact information for
My favorite was, upload you resume after spending 45 minutes filling out the exact same shit. You know no one is looking at your resume at all.
Why is Anne Hathaway catching strays?
Occupational hazard when her mouth is just that large.

Also please complete this live brief that's not actually a test, we just want the work doing for free.
You forgot the take-home project to include free labor in your begging.
Why is Anne Hathaway looking at me like she’s my kid brother and mom just said it’s his turn to use the computer?

Oh good, I have no idea who that is so I sort of assumed it was a still from a porn. Now I feel comfortable sending it to people!
Hey this happened to me ! In retrospect, shouldn't have continued the application at that point
Down for a round 2? I don't have a job but i'd certainly love to see you begging
