/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

It said squeaking, not screeching.

Also, since it's Jeopardy, if Laxwana was the correct response, it would have to include her whole title and honoraries. Laxwana Troi, daughter of the Fifth House, holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed.

What kind of modern government still has mobility with ridiculous and overblown titles?

Not the expected answer, but factually correct, so after deliberation, your answer is accepted. With a bonus.

Oh man I remember seeing that live

I still think hoe was the correct answer and 90% of people would come up with it

(Yes they accepted it)

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 8 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I saw it live, and at the time, didn't know who Ken Jennings was (I only watched Jeopardy randomly). Didn't know they gave him the point, though. Cause yeah, that's the first answer I thought of, too.

I'll never forget watching live the final jeopardy question where he lost is streak

It was a question about what company's seasonal employees end in April. He put FedEx and the answer was H&R Block (taxes)

[–] limelight79@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is that Ken Jennings? Damn!

Didn't he put "a hoe" and got it wrong because they were looking for "rake"

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

It's linked in the comment you replied to

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 5 points 23 hours ago

Yes, but they accepted it after IIRC

They do revise the points when that happens.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

Who the Hell calls an immoral pleasure-seeker a "rake?"

[–] teft@piefed.social 8 points 22 hours ago

Who are overly pedantic people who expect the answer in the form of a question?

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 4 points 22 hours ago

People who are stuck in 1940s slang

[–] teft@piefed.social 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 5 points 23 hours ago

I remember one time they actually gave a half credit answer in final Jeopardy because the guy wrote “who is not me?”
