Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

This alone should qualify him for impeachment, inflation is suffering for all but the most wealthy across the nation.

Not that he will be impeached, congress is making so much money that they can't help but "ride it out". Easy wealth is hard for anyone to resist, could you? Seriously, we're talking generational wealth for their entire family...

https://www.capitoltrades.com/trades

...and that's only what they report, there's way more money in play than that. Even the good ones have to face "I could have enough money for me and mom dad and my kids and their kids, just a few more months and then I'll argue for a minimum wage, maybe even a standalone bill! Just one more million..."

All the leadership is long gone, the few decent reps are nothing more than tokens; their only purpose is idealization.

He's literally committed treason and nothing happened. Expecting the government to do anything about him is a waste of energy.

Expecting US citizens to do anything about him is a waste of energy.

They couldn't give two fucks to show up and tick some boxes.

Pay no attention to the economy, we have purposely trained it wrong, as a joke.

[–] Tower@lemmy.zip 5 points 5 hours ago

We are bleeding, making us the victor!

So there really is no point where there is a mechanism to save the office of the president should mental illness and incapacity dominate the working of the Supreme leader's mind? The King walks naked and we just keep saying his clothes look fabulous?

[–] nickiwest@lemmy.world 13 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

There is, but the people who wrote it didn't foresee a world in which an entire established political party just blindly follows everything that the incapacitated person says.

The framers of the constitution and the people who wrote its amendments were so sure that only people with integrity and good intentions would hold elected office that they didn't give us a plan for removing shallow, greedy megalomaniacs.

[–] searabbit@piefed.social 3 points 5 hours ago

But they also didn't consider themselves smart enough to have thought of everything which was the whole point of the amendment system. Which was promptly discarded as soon as it became more convenient to reinterpret the letter of the constitution to suit your needs while calling yourself an originalist.

25A and 2A, though I prefer 2A

If Amazon and Cybertruck even frown, he's out on his ass.

Don't worry! They're super happy.

[–] MajinBlayze@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

Only if the powers that be are in opposition to the president

[–] Xerxos@lemmy.ml 23 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Seems like his bribes keep up with inflation.

Inflation is generally more of a poor peoples problem, the rich don't suffer like the rest of us. Lots of opportunities for the parasite class to steal even more wealth.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago

Inflation actually benefits those who are in major debt.

[–] dalekcaan@feddit.nl 54 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

"No, I love it – the numbers were great," Trump said. "You know what I really love? I love the inflation. You know why? Because as soon as this war is over, you know, I can say it now, something you didn't know. You know, we've been taking out millions of barrels of oil, nobody knows it. You know who doesn't know about it? Iran, until right now we took out the other night 22 ships late at night with no lights because they don't have any radar because we blasted the crap out of it. We took out, that's why oil is $85 a barrel."

I know everything that comes out of his mouth is word salad, but I think I had a stroke just reading that.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 11 points 9 hours ago

We've been taking out millions of barrels of oil. You know who doesn't know about it? Iran

Didn't. Past tense.

If by some amazing level of incompetence they didn't know about their oil being plundered, they absolutely do now that he's opened his mouth about it.

[–] BonsaiBoo@lemmy.world 125 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

We warned everyone - the rich love electing republicans because they crash everything and make people sell their stuff l, businesses and properties off cheap, it’s a fire sale for rich people, who then either hold on to that and borrow against it for more wealth, create monopolies, and raise prices further, or who just accrue more wealth and power for sport in this manner.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 62 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

Don't forget that since they sold all their stuff, they now have to buy all new stuff in the eventual upswing, now at an inflated price.

The ultra-wealthy are literally pawnbrokers on a national scale.

[–] BonsaiBoo@lemmy.world 13 points 13 hours ago

Well they are trying to kill off as many poors as possible, so they don’t expect everyone to rebuy their likely more crappy than before shit.

The Narcissist's Prayer

That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.
[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 38 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

I imagine inflation is great when you've put yourself in debt to leverage assets and your cost of living takes only a tiny portion of your massive income.

You know, it's great for rich people. The rest gets fucked.

[–] wasabi_noir@lemmy.zip 13 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

How many of his shit for brains enablers are going to make the arguments that inflation is a good thing?

[–] innermachine@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago

It is a good thing, for the ruling elites. All their assets are skyrocketing in value, allowing them to game bank loans more and have more financial leverage. You can make boat loads of money off inflation if you play your cards right and have investments in property! Look up Hugo Stinnes, there's more to it than my comment says but interesting history that I think is repeating itself to some extent.
