Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in New Jersey was reportedly struck by a vehicle and shot at the car as it fled the scene on Monday morning, according to local authorities.

Have trouble buying that they hit the ice agent without evidence considering how often they've been proven to lie about shit.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 56 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It certainly wouldn't be the first time they've lied about this exact thing

[–] Bananskal@nord.pub 14 points 2 days ago

Even when they're was video evidence of the event. Making global news.

I don't want to hear ICE claims about agents being struck by cars unless they have a body with tire marks. They're liars coached to say the same thing every time to excuse their unjustified violence.

"After being struck by car" is one way to interpret this goon punching the windows of the vehicle before it drove off.

[–] shittydwarf@piefed.ca 44 points 3 days ago

Narrator: He was not, in fact, struck by a car at all

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What was the point of shooting at a car moving away from you unless you are just itching to murder someone.

He's ICE. Of course he was itching to murder someone!

This, 100%.

ICEatzgruppen is probably going to spin a bullshit story about the guy they randomly stopped being a “dangerous terrorist”. Their SOP absolutely includes character assassination in the interest of deflecting blame and making themselves feel like macho “crime fighters”.

Based upon any video I have ever seen of ICE in this situation, my guess is that they shot first. Isn't it standard procedure to not shoot at a moving vehicle in order to protect yourself? There was a whole debate after the Renee Goode shooting about how absolutely fucking stupid it is to shoot at a moving vehicle in order to "defend yourself."

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago

Active self protection even has a video about it saying that he did not like the officer's chances in court. Too bad the courts are useless too unless it comes to token gestures like taking trump's names off the Kennedy center.

But murdering Americans? Naw, they are cool with not punishing that.

Taking lessons from the IDF

It was coming right for them

Stafford police added that “there is no reason to believe there is any concern for the public’s safety.”

The fuck there isn’t. ICE is around. They’re not here to protect fucking anyone.

Cars in America are so safe, you can be hit by one and be functional enough to shoot at it driving away.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

They keep shooting at people for fleeing, and people will start fighting.

That's just the result of millions of years of evolution for the vast amount of the human population.

If they want people to peacefully go into custody, they need to start treating the people they detain like humans while not bumrushing people with drawn guns when they apprehend them.

If ICE agents weren't so stupid and desperate for work, they'd realize they're bait.

[–] usernametbd@lemmy.zip 16 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Good. Hit more of the pieces of shit. Not just fleeing, on purpose because they exist. Fuck ICE.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 9 points 2 days ago

yeah we heard this story before.

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 12 points 3 days ago

Okay, everybody, all together now: BULLSHIT!

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 days ago

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in New Jersey was ~~reportedly~~ probably not struck by a vehicle and shot at the car as it fled the ~~scene~~ murder attempt on Monday morning

That's probably MUCH closer to the ACTUAL truth than what cops claim.

was attempting to apprehend a suspect when the suspect fled from the scene in a vehicle, striking [an ICE agent]”.

Ffs! That's the opposite order of events, making the headline misleading at best, if not deliberate disinformation 🤬
