People vandalizing the pool by looking at the pealing bottom some idiots drove cars on before it was dry and poured random chemicals on and had workers walk around scrubbing? Gonna have to suspend the '26 elections just to be safe.

Are the people who vandalized the reflecting pool in the room with us Mr. President ?

[–] 14th_cylon@lemmy.zip 32 points 2 days ago (3 children)

It is worse than you might think, he is not just casually lying, he is actually arresting people...

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8d26051vv2o

So a dude is on a long bike ride, sees floating paint in the water, grabs it, and gets arrested for vandalism? Fucking seriously?

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They’re gonna release him when they drain the pool and find those blue sheets coming up in the middle too, right? …right?

[–] thepig@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 days ago

Suuuuure, he'll be free as a bird, just like all those green card holders illegally arrested by ICE, they are not being held in inhumane camps, oh no no no

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

"Gonna" release him? Didn't read the article?

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Poor guy, he must've for a second forgotten what country he lives in and that the stasi are everywhere.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes... HE was the one who paid to have it vandalized in the first place

[–] thepig@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

The plot thickens, but not really... With diaper don the plot is always sillier than a Scooby Doo episode

Ayyy JTHM reference nice.

[–] brap@lemmy.world 53 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You mean the contractors who painted it blue?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 43 points 2 days ago

It is clear that we need to have a serious interrogation of the contractor, and find out exactly why he chose the materials he used, the costs of those materials, an audit of the budget, and how the money was actually spent.

[–] ghost9@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

It vandalized itself after his pool boy was done with it.

[–] Colonel_Panic_@eviltoast.org 20 points 2 days ago

Good point.

Why have we not arrested the criminal that has now vandalized the east wing or the rose garden or the oval office or the reflecting pool?

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

People taking pieces of the peeled paint. Was reading an interview with one yesterday.

[–] possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Alright, jokes aside, they're likely arresting people who are peeling the coating off of the bottom. They're not gonna specify that though, because that would require them to acknowledge that the coating is failing.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don’t think anyone needed to peel anything— the photos show the stuff curling up on its own.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Of course it is. It was the wrong application.

[–] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The enemy is always there, always under his thumb, They have no, names, no faces, but he has their number. Only he could save us from the enemy within... Zzzz...

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Oh, he has a name - it's Emmanuel Goldstein.

That guy is everywhere in Donvict's America.

[–] protist@retrofed.com 18 points 2 days ago

They arrested people who are going to be found Innocent in the unlikely event the DOJ successfully takes them to trial, however their lives will still be significantly disrupted.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 18 points 2 days ago

Antifa! Antifa has been making the pool green.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 9 points 2 days ago

As usual, dumbfuck is lying

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Reading the article I can immediately tell this monument is going to stay fucked until the administration is out; they're going to drain it, "fix it", and have it happen again. Honestly, perfect metaphor for the administration, though.

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

At this point, there’s nothing that can be done to this pool that can ever be considered vandalising. Putting it out of its misery, sure, but vandalising: no.
