Speaking as a now old man that started working at 14 in factories to help my family keep a roof over our heads and food on the table and only had the bare minimum protection for kids that worked, fuck these family values assholes.

like... ugh...

ya know, it's one thing when they're just outright sexist/racist or warmongering or corrupt/theives. we all know they're those things. shitty, selfish people.

but when they do THIS SHIT, we know that they're not just selfish, they're cruel. they don't do what they do just to take from other and enrich themselves... no...

they want to be cruel. they want to hurt others they perceive as weak. it's not enough just to take from you. they want to see you suffer for it. they want to see children suffer.

that's who these people are

[–] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 4 days ago

And don't worry, they also get off on the power of being hypocrites about it too

[–] Virtvirt588@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago

Stripping child labour protection is essentially stripping workers and human rights away. This may be focused on children but it absolutely isnt - it also mixes in teenagers and adults, and those who support this are egotistical pricks.

Republicans have a weird fixation with exploiting children.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's really a weird fixation with exploiting EVERYBODY. They just don't see why kids should get a break.

[–] Virtvirt588@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah, children are an easy target, but they would also go after teens, young and old adults. Its a problem that concerns everybody.

[–] Aarrodri@lemmy.world 67 points 4 days ago

If you are a Republican.. fuck you.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You already have mom and dad working two jobs each, and it's still tough to pay the bills. Now we can get the kids out contributing to the household, too. It's not like they're getting decent public school education anyway.

If you get all the kids working a couple of jobs, your path to wealth will be assured, just work really hard, and don't worry about the money, it'll come.

Best part is kids don't vote so they can't represent themselves.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I fully support children getting violent against those who voted for or support this.

[–] OryxAndCake@slrpnk.net 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I would but I don't think incarceration will be any kinder to them.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

At least there they could afford an actual meal and get a education.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Not really. For profit jails and prisons charge inmates a daily fee for being there.

[–] Philote@lemmy.ml 45 points 4 days ago

They stopped reading any further after “strip child” and slapped the approved button repeatedly.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 days ago

Soon they'll vote again to send in the army to cut down any protests against their family values

[–] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Ah yes. Another episode of my favourite show - 'Nearly Dead Politicians Making Decisions About Matters That They Know Nothing About, That Do Not Impact Them, and That They Will Never Have to Worry About'. Looks like this will be a good one.

[–] RejZoR@lemmy.ml 30 points 4 days ago (1 children)

As stated million times before, they only care about children before they are born. After they get born they are the last thing they give a shit about.

[–] Senal@programming.dev 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

they don't care about the children before or after, it's about fear and control.

The experiment was going well for a while

So well in fact other countries adopted a lot from you, yet you never saw improvements on your systems to be emulated at all

Weird suicide of a nation that never needed to happen

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The experiment started with genocide, then slavery, and never really stopped doing either. They've been at war for all but roughly 20 years of their 250 year existence. Tens of millions of dead civilians around the world.

England's latch key kid after the divorce

[–] dudeface@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I would argue that’s a holdover from the Europeans and while they became more enlightened and peaceful the Americans took no lessons

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Lol, the Europeans which still preside over colonies and are 2 steps behind America in their fascist rise?

[–] pdxfed@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Europe ain't my rope to swing on

Can't learn a thing from it

Yet we hang from it

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 25 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Republicans would sell their wives and children for a chance at cheap labor and no taxes. Just despicable people with no morals or principles.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago

There are no Republicans any more, that was just the larval stage before they morphed into their final form - MAGA.

The Republican party is dead. They are all MAGAs now.

[–] No1@aussie.zone 21 points 4 days ago (2 children)

They yearn for the good old days.

Of the Dark Ages.

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

[–] Steve 24 points 4 days ago (1 children)

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

Everywhere but real life it seems.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 4 days ago

Protect them from a proper education
