Honestly, I'm more offended that they photoshopped him to look like a normal person. Thiel looks like someone who got a skull replacement.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He has the pallor of someone with stage 4 cancer.

Makes me wonder what kind of crazy fad diet he follows.

Bet he drinks his own piss to extend his lifespan.

Ol' "red skull in a facemask"-lookin ass.

[–] dizzle18@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

How long did it take to edit this picture to make him not moist?

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 40 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It is a joke.

He paid for it btw.

But don't link that shit directly, there's plenty critical articles about this, on better platforms.

Here's an archive of the linked article as well, so as not to give them traffic.

First time I see ghostarchive in the wild 👍

I'm hoping it's good, since there were some issues with archive.today modifying archived sites and stuff from what I remember.

No wonder. Axel Springer is an utterly malicious corporation.

It’s only fitting that they take a liking to Thiel, who is, after all, also an unscrupulous monster.

Edit: Removed a statement about Springer Verlag; thanks to schnurrito for pointing out that this company is not affiliated with Axel Springer.

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

to Springer Verlag’s

As far as I can tell and find out on the Internet, Springer Verlag is a completely different corporation that has nothing in common with Axel Springer except a similar name.

[–] DandomRude@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You're right—thanks for pointing that out.

Because of their shady tactics, I had naturally assumed that Axel Springer must be involved, but in fact, Springer Verlag was founded by Julius Springer, who apparently has nothing to do with Axel Springer.

Edit: I'm removing the part about Springer Verlag from my comment so that other people don't get confused.

The idea came from the same guy who recommonded Elon buying Twitter.

Also Peter Thiel:

Go through the archives and find a picture of me where it's less apparent that I'm the antichrist.

EDIT: where it's less apparent that im the antichrist in the throes of sweaty, uncontrolled and unending paranoia.

With this, Axel Springer pays tribute to a person who has created new markets, reshaped existing ones in an extraordinary way, and left a lasting mark on the technological, economic, and societal debates of our time

I mean yeah, technically that’s true. But not like, in a way to be celebrated. “And now we give our award to Timmy Schmidt for upending the real estate market. Timmy is well known for burning down so many houses.”

[–] kudra@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is he related to John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt?

It's a menu item on the up coming new hit restaurant The Bottomless Revolution.
