Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Trump voters are so goddamn stupid.

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 13 points 5 hours ago

I think you just misunderstood who fascists consider to be criminals.

[–] Radical_Socialist_t00t@lemmy.ca 13 points 7 hours ago

Maybe people that know nothing about politics shouldn't get a vote.

[–] moobythegoldensock@infosec.pub 28 points 9 hours ago

This is exactly what she voted for.

[–] ToastedCoconuts@piefed.blahaj.zone 128 points 13 hours ago (4 children)

Weird how trump voters only ever care about things when they are personally affected

[–] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

The sad part is, she agrees with you.

"I think we need some type of reform," she said. "People don't know about this process until it happens to somebody they know."

Ownership of media outlets is a cause of so much of this.

[–] benjirenji@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

How long do you think they'll listen to you explaining all the systemic wrongs to them until their eyes glace over as there's no simple solution?

[–] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

About as long as it took me to read this.

[–] GhostFace@lemmy.today 0 points 1 hour ago

Because that's just how most people are.

People only care about what's best for them and their own self-interests. The only difference is that some people think ahead or have a wider view of the general situation compared to others.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 56 points 12 hours ago

That's the entire conservative mindset, and has been throughout all time: "how does this thing affect ME?"

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 18 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

The conservative woman they talk about here is an engineer. Almost all the engineers I know work 60-80 hour weeks.

That's the thing with lots of Americans. We work so hard to pay the increasing rent and take care of ourselves and our families that we simply don't have the time or energy to see outside the bubbles in which we live. We don't go through the process of researching everything we hear on the news, so we're easy targets for propaganda - especially now that it's got algorithmic targeting to steer specific people in specific directions.

These people really, truly believe the lies they're told about immigrants.

[–] achsonaja@lemmy.world 13 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Idk... I don't think there's a correlation between the hours you work and basic empathy

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, no I think there is, indirectly. If you're working 60-80 hours a week, you have absolutely no home life and almost surely can't grasp the concept of someone else wanting it. That is directly related to empathy towards others.

[–] achsonaja@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago

You're right. I over simplified. Over working people is definitely a tool to make people more complacent. If you're too tired or over worked, you're too tired to fight (or care about others). Yay capitalism!

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 10 points 9 hours ago

That people still think this goes to show you how uninformed people are. (That and Fox sure isn't going to tell them it's normal people, they're going to tell them it is all criminals.)

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 39 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

The plan was never to target criminals, it was to criminalize the targeted.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 58 points 13 hours ago

You were. You targeted voting for them.

[–] Triasha@lemmy.world 34 points 12 hours ago

Guess you will have to pay domestic labor rates for childcare. Psychopaths.

[–] Corvidae@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

Trump was talking about migrants as criminals. You remembered correctly. Your mistake was believing him.

So, so gullible.

"I love the poorly educated!"

Also: PBS NewsHour: Missouri couple murdered in Guatemala after husband was deported

They'd be alive if Harris was president.

Just like Pretti and Good.

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 21 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

They see every illegal person as a criminal. Hope that clears things up.

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 19 points 12 hours ago

No, see, they're all criminals except the ones who benefit me! Those are the good ones!

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago

They have a completely different understanding of our shared vocabulary. They live in a curated world of outrage and grift.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 16 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

After a divorce caused her immigration status to lapse, Basele was issued a final order of removal in 2011.

She lost her status because she got divorced? The fuckin fuck even is that shit

[–] 14th_cylon@lemmy.zip 3 points 9 hours ago

married an american, then divorced an american, all that while not being an american herself, i assume?

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

That's a shame... I sure hope no trolls start publicly accusing these leopards of being paid leftist actors until their own people turn on them.
