I wonder what percentage of those left are bots?

Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!
Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:

- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

I'd be more curious what percentage are reporters that feel they need accounts
I wonder what finally drove away the people. Maybe some new rage bait bullshit has captured their attention? Hard to accept they've improved.
The problem is the type of people that join TS (or any other alt-right tech social service) are not actually happy preaching to the choir. They need people to argue with. So they inevitably go right back to twitter, threads, reddit, etc. when they realize they aren't getting the negative attention that they're used to receiving for trolling on mainstream social platforms.
Can’t they just do what we do, fight each other?
Additionally, they left Twitter in the first place because they perceived it as too liberal. X doesn't have that reputation.
I think X also said Trump could come back, making his exile entirely self-imposed now.
Exactly. They need an out-group to feel superior to.
twitter, threads, reddit, etc.
Anecdotally, they seem to especially looooove FB and Nextdoor.
FB is so deeply enshittified that any time I check in there (really fucking rare, let me tell you) I seem to only see a lot of posts from the Crazy Uncle Liberties in my life sandwiched between so much sponsored content. FB was never perfect, but it's so much worse now.
And by the time I joined Nextdoor, it was already chock full of Karens trying to slip in their conservative (and racist, but I repeat myself) bullshit in between complaints about what "the kids are up to these days".
I just made a Nextdoor account a few weeks ago out of curiosity. Quickly regretting it. My neighbors are all the most paranoid fuckwits on the planet. Maybe if they weren't such nosy busybodies they wouldn't be so scared by things like black people existing in public or literally any unidentified substance they find being fentanyl.
It's not even the racist ones that disappoint me, I just kind of expect that from living in a community inhabited by mostly white middle class retirees, it's like the ones that are so devoid of critical thinking skills that they jump to wild conclusions based on nothing, and apparently that's just the way those people live their lives each day.
Found a bit of roadkill? Someone must be torturing and murdering the neighborhood pets and put their bodies on display! Call the police!
Found a one dollar bill tucked underneath your welcome mat? Someone must be casing your house and put that there to see if/when you collect it to know what times you are home! Call the police!
et cetera, you get the idea. I wish this was hyperbole, but the two examples above are real.
Yeah, honestly, it brings me back to my childhood and having to rub elbows with a lot of very, very stupid people, because of the area I lived in and how the stupidest kids tend to be loudest (and same with their parents) and so on. I could not be as selective then as I can now with who I choose to associate with.
Back then, things were done in meatspace and with analog tools. But it was quite stupid then, too. For example, the "blue stars" urban legend (before we knew of the term urban legend) was something just swallowed hook, line, and sinker - by most parents, by cops, by teachers....meanwhile, ~10 year me is wondering, wait, what? LSD is not even addictive, WTF. Also, kids back then had next to no discretionary income...why would you try to "hook" them on a non-addictive substance.
Same thing with so much stupid shit - the notion that the Satanic Church profited from arcade games. Or that a groundhog really did determine how long winter would last (kids my age absolutely fucking believed that well past the stage, and I think at least one parent seemingly did, unless they were just trying to amuse their junior high age child).
I guess all I'm saying is that Nextdoor amplifies this, but I've also had lots of evidence that there are just a LOT of very stupid people.
Guessing a lot of old people either died or lost their login info.
Hahaha good point!
Hopefully it's because they were boomers and died
omg yes pls
Did someone not pay their bot farm bill?
Damn you know compute is getting expensive when even the fascists can't afford their disinfo bots
dailybeast hitting the "trump humiliated" button twice in two days.
Settle down, Beavis.
Difficult to humiliate someone with so little self-awareness.
You just have to do it on Truth Social so it shows up on his feed
Pretty sure that's a jailable offense there.
The only ones left are the true sycophants and reporters.
It's gotta be exhausting using a social media platform whose content is 100% politics all the time and its entire existence is in itself a political statement. Like, people complain about politics on Lemmy but at least you can sort of just ignore it and scroll past it. Yes, it's invasive, but there are places where political discussion is pretty much verboten, especially the casual conversation areas.
Meanwhile, I doubt there's a single post on Truth Social that isn't politics-adjacent somehow, or if it isn't it quickly becomes one as people praise Trump for the good things happening in their life or curse Trump's enemies when bad things happen to them. "Took a big shit today. Real satisfying. God Bless the USA and DJT.". "Anybody notice how chip bags are mostly just air now? We should prosecute the democrats for this.".
Surprised anybody still uses the platform, tbh.
You forget that these people find the very existence of brown and black people exhausting. As a result, their stupid little safe space being full of political nonsense is still less stressful to them than the real world.
In spite of all the bits of hopeful news, I'm still worried about the midterms.
same.
sure, Americans are tired of him... some even hate him.... but do they really HATE him enough to go vote? to change their personal politics?
I don't think so. not yet. energy and food prices have to keep going up a lot before we get to Nixon or Orban levels of disgust.
or Trump would have to reinstate the draft or something similar (that personally impacts large numbers of conservatives and centrists).
That's assuming he does find some bullshit reason to declare a national emergency to cancel/reject the election, or tamper excessively
Trump will get "assassinated" by "Iran" soon. JD Vance will take the helm, declare a national emergency, suspend midterms and go full boots on ground invasion of the middle East.
Maybe a bit too much tinfoil in my hat but this is the craziest timeline lol
And they'll start a draft but only in blue states and cities.
I think the word "truth" is scaring them off. Rebrand it like it is - "Liar's Central".
That should do it.
Why did anyone use it in the first place... He's the only one I've ever heard of that uses it. Is a 40% drop like 4 people?
The 50+ y/o gay bus driver that is a regular at one of my local pubs has/had an account strictly for rage baiting those who he calls "MAGATs". I enjoy the enthusiasm but we live in Scotland so I'm not sure I'll be joining him.
Hey now, my batshit crazy aunt-in-law used it.
Yeah but the drop off in followers among even the top 10 most followed accounts has got to be massive. Like who even is #2 on the list?
My guess would be Jr.
Once Twitter was bought out by Elon, the writing as on the wall for Truth.social. It only got initial traction because Trump was banned from Twitter. Once Twitter was yanked violently to the right into X, there was no need for Truth.social, as both systems are effectively providing the same propaganda to the same audience.
Exodus?! You mean like in the Bible? He really IS our savior!
What I don't understand is why people are still on Facebook and X. They should start a community on the Fediverse.
Facebook hides its true colors well enough that they layman has no idea why they should avoid it. X on the other hand openly has a CSAM generator running as a feature, and people are fine with it.
You mean, the people who know why social networks such as Facebook and X are bad, who despise their owners, know of the existence of the fediverse, how to use it and want to be fediverse evangelists in their social circle? Dozens of them.
The retired navy guy who owns a bar in ohio and his friend group knows nothing about the fediverse, are not exposed to people who would.
I mean who the fuck needs a racist alternative to twitter when twitter exists?
So if you have about 10 users and 4 leave....
I'm honestly surprised - i would think that a social media platform designed to attract the rubiest marks to have ever been grifted would be an incredibly viable product.
