FUCK THIS REGIME
People here keep saying this but I'm not sure if we should. Cutting off power hurts normal people and could be seen as an act of war.
could be seen as an act of war.
You mean like threatening the sovereignty of a foreign nation, arresting their citizens at the border, and enacting a trade war?
That kind of acts of war?
I'm Canadian. Fuck it all. Shut the power off and let Americans finally fucking revolt against their government. 350 million fucking cowards who are just letting all this happen. It's time we retaliate for once.
Whether it should be or not doesn't matter, Trump would see it that way and use it as pretext to actually invade.
Plus we gotta keep escalation options up our sleeve for when he escalates.
The second an American military boot lands on Canadian soil, the USA as we know it will cease to exist. All four borders of their country would be invaded by NATO within a week.
Hell, a good chunk of their own military would revolt, as well as starting a civil war in America.
Not to mention they can't win a war halfway across the country against people who don't look like them or speak their language. You think they can win a war against people who look and talk exactly like them?
I don't think NATO would invade, but you're right about the internal internal issues they would have. There would be orders straight up refused, malicious compliance, and we'd see defections like Russia was having issues with in Ukraine. Soldiers just walking up and surrendering, or getting "captured."
Most of them have no interest in taking over Canada, and there isn't even a clear way to "take over" Canada even if they wanted to. They could take over all of our military bases, and take the primary government institutions and it wouldn't really matter very much. They couldn't effectively control the population that would not go along with that plan.
No. But I think they're dumb as fuck and emotional children who can't stand to lose. I absolutely think they'd try it.
We need to hurt the normal people. While some of them didn't vote for trump, a LOT of them didn't vote at all. That needs to change. These people don't usually change until something affects them personally.
If we can get some non-voters to vote, the republican party drops like a rock.
Is that election interference? No more than what they're doing to us.
If tariffs hurt the country issuing them as claimed by everyone why is retaliating with tariffs the answer?
IF you have an alternative provider of that good you're tariffing, you make that provider more attractive to buyers in your nation. That provider could be a local one, or an international one in a country you don't tariff. Introducing tariffs basically cut off your market to the supplier you're tariffing.
Trump's idiotic tariffs were global. All products, all nations. No local supplier for most things as the US makes bugger all now. No alternative suppliers because he tariffed everyone.
Yup. It's why Canada has been branching out our trade relations with other countries. We don't need anything from America. It might be more expensive to get those items from other countries, but America doesn't have a single resource or product Canada needs that we can't get from someone else, or domestically.
So us tariffing American products promotes companies to import from other global distribution rather than the US ones they've used for years.
It's a massive inconvenience, but a worthwhile one to starve the US.
Ford said he understood Washington had sought language late in the negotiations that would have restricted Canada’s ability to negotiate trade agreements with other countries without U.S. approval. Carney has called that demand unacceptable and a question of Canadian sovereignty.
Carney said the dispute also exposed a deeper divide over language and culture, saying protections for French and Canadian culture that Washington views as trade irritants are considered fundamental rights in Canada.
“Who does he think he is?” Ford said of Trump. “You gotta be kidding.”
Wow
Ford has zero self awareness and dignity.
Don’t upset the Canadians, the last time the US provoked Canadians they burned the White House to the ground, then casually went back to their fields.
They're gonna need to do that again.
Trump is a violent brutal idiot.
Once he realizes that the US is actually not even close to 'energy independent', when Canada starts limiting energy related exports to the US... he'll use military force.
Elbows up, its gonna be a bumpy fucking ride.
Those pipelines are going to spring a lot of fucking holes if they try to take them by force.
We don't need to burn your white house to the ground.
Your president is paying contractors to do it for him.
I think Carney's been more than polite enough, up to this point. It's time to tell Trump to go fuck himself.
Convert cdn auto mfg to military retool and retrain. Allow Chinese vehicles made in canada. Fuck amazon and all the other US shit and Never trust those fuckers again.
I think that's plan B if the shit show continues past the midterms. Although really it should be part of plan A. If we're still in the shit after the midterms, eventually Ford/GM/Stellantis are gonna be looking for assembly plant buyers and if the examples in Europe show anything - the BYDs of the world are gonna be buying them up.
We can last another 2.5 months. And if the elections fail to flip the clown car, we'll go to plan B.
Plan B should have been enacted a year ago.
The world is worse off because you refuse to do anything.
