I want it released already. Not because I'm going to be one of the many buying it or who pre-ordered it. But I'm sick of everything revolving around it. The Netflix Drama. Whether Rockstar uses Generative AI or not. The endless debates about the price tag. The activism people practice about digital vs physical that involves GTA 6.

Just tired of it all.

Agreed, same for pretty much and major game that gets a lot of media attention.

I'll stick with my indie games. Got dins champion recently, still think drox operative 2 is my favourite soldak game but after making a second char after a few hours and learning how to play a bit I am starting to get into this a bit more.

[–] deft@lemmy.wtf 2 points 6 days ago (2 children)

500 hours in project zomboid, 250 in Space Haven, Wildermyth, Kingdom Two Crowns.

Just got moonlighter, into the breach, tactical breach wizards.

Literally don't know who even is playing AAA games anymore honestly like what would you bother?

I'm playing baldur's gate 3 and loving it. Wasn't that AAA? I'm planning to try the game of the year winners and nominees for the past few years - I haven't much gaming experience, but if a lot of ppl think they're good, that's a recommendation to me. I think they're not all AAA productions though. The only problem I see with AAA games is the expense - but I can wait for steam sales. But yeah, in thinking to play tactical breach wizards next, looks great.

Need to play Space Haven, I got it along with a bunch of other games and I am still going through them. The Riftbreaker was discounted at the same time and so far is the one I have played most of my recent purchases, also got The Last Starship at the same time and have played a little of that. Riftbreaker also has DLC I haven't touched yet though. Sandustry was another fun one.

[–] deft@lemmy.wtf 2 points 6 days ago

Wow I'll have to try all of those. Space Haven is really chill I definitely suggest playing with sandbox a little the game can feel almost suffocating the first time you play without it

[–] parlaptie@feddit.org 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I've got some bad news for you: Once it releases, everyone will talk about GTA VII

In 15 years yes. But everyone will keep talking about VI for a while even after the release.

I kinda feel like it's going to struggle to live up to all this hype, no matter how good it is.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 4 points 6 days ago

I just want to hear about the free build floating out in the wild. Or how long it will take for Empress and her Glorious Might to crack the damn thing.

It took over a year for them to crack RDR2

[–] FoxAlive@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 days ago

Youre going to probably hear about it more for a while after it releases. Maybe even more so

[–] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 days ago

Why does this nonsense post have 300+ upvotes? Such a lame community we got. All the comments saying they only care about indie gaming, why don't you guys go to the indie gaming community? Too many losers and dorks here.

Feels nice to be on the other side of this issue for once. I'm thoroughly enjoying everything surrounding this release, from rumors to actual news, theories and so on and so forth. I just love GTA, maybe the only non niche game i enjoy that much. (At the same time i hate what rockstar games did to gta online so i didn't touch gta V in quite a while, which fuels my hype even more)

[–] Auster@thebrainbin.org 1 points 6 days ago

Bots and bot-like figures that post to communities I've been blocking, as well as domains that I find to not aggregate much and that are posted to communities. GTA6 noise coming to my feed then becomes minimal, and I'd suggest the same then.

I dont imagine GTA 6 will be good, tbh

I've seen way way way more here on Lemmy bitching about GTA 6 than I have seen actually about it. The complaining about rockstar and GTA 6 is probably 80% of all the rockstar content I see here.

Seriously there has been maybe 3-4 posts about GTA 6 on this community in the last 2 months and every single one of them is full of people whining that they don't want to hear about it. It's so overblown.

GTA 6 is one of - if not the - highest budget games ever made. In one of the most popular and successful franchises of all time. It's the biggest release of the last few years whether they like it or not. Now... You're telling me we should stop talking about it in gaming communities because Lemmy users want to get back to talking about Linux and whatever 6/10 open source game is doing the rounds?

Sorry for the harshness but these posts and comments are so annoying. If you don't want to talk about AAA games then why are you in the gaming community?

P.S. I've seen posts talking about GTA or any major company (PlayStation, Nintendo, Bethesda, etc) just get huge amounts of downvotes on this platform because "we're tired of hearing about it". Why do people do this??? Just move on to the next post.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I wouldn't be as annoyed by hearing about it if Rockstar were an upstanding company. The union busting though means they should not be given any good PR at minimum, and ideally none.

I don't care if people want to discuss big games. We shouldn't accept positive discussion of games that are made by companies who treat their employees poorly. That should be a bare minimum rule people on this platform hold to. I don't care how excited you are for the game. You don't get to promote it.

I actually do agree with you. I am tired of people only complaining and brigading on anything GTA. Its so cringey to me, they could simply ignore the content, but instead have to make sure everyone knows they're on the Lemmy bandwagon. They're hipsters, plain and simple. They are too cool for the next star wars and biggest game of the decade, and they have to make sure eeeeveryone knows this. I am excited for the game and wish I could engage more with that side.

[–] ampersandrew@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (7 children)

And posting genuine news about what is going to be one of the biggest gaming events of our lifetimes just gets downvoted here. Come on, people; it's clearly relevant. You don't have to upvote it, but then when people downvote anything they personally dislike, you end up with people who only get their gaming news here saying, "I've never heard of [one of the biggest games of the year]."

[–] knowone@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

One of the most nonsensical things I see, the whole downvoting things that you don't like or don't agree with, even if it's still being put in a negative light or the person is just curious and asking about it. Happens all over reddit, especially in comments. Obviously if someone's stating rather than questioning and being bad faith or argumentative then I can understand it but it still happens all the time when they aren't

[–] ampersandrew@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Seeing as Lemmy does nothing different than Reddit on a fundamental level, it's no surprise we see the same problems. We're just partially shielded from some of them by way of being a smaller community.

It's that it's not downvoting at this point. It's brigading. That's what I'm really annoyed at. It's not that people disagree, it's that everyone dogpiles on because GTA bad must hit downvote to send it to -1000. That ruins it for those who do want to enjoy it and makes it harder to see, and then we can't have an honest conversation about it until someone posts "hey it's kind of annoying that it's being brigaded"

Here's a thread to discuss at great length the thing I'm sick of seeing discussed.

[–] anamethatisnt@sopuli.xyz 40 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Interestingly this post of yours is the first I've heard of GTA6 in weeks.

edit: In 10 days seem more correct.

[–] pumpupthejam@piefed.social 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Same. This post gives guerrilla marketing vibes.

[–] Creat@discuss.tchncs.de 33 points 1 week ago

Also sick of hearing about it. Not because I want to play it, but because I don't care about it, at all.

Congratulations, you added to that kind of noise. For no reason, too.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm not buying GTA6, and I wouldn't care if R* burned to the ground. They're union busting assholes, and all the money they'll harvest from GTA6 will simply tell them they can continue being union busting assholes.

[–] zecg@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I’m not buying GTA6, and I wouldn’t care if R* burned to the ground.

I’m more like I'm not buying GTA6 for more than 15€ after less than a year of patching, and I wouldn’t care if R* burned to the ground.

Thanks for contributing to the exact thing you hate lol

I feel just like I'm back on Reddit.

I’m so tired of this thing that I’m gonna talk about it more.

[–] B0NK3RS@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Use one of the Lemmy apps that filter keywords or even an RSS reader. You can solve your own problem here...

[–] FreeBooteR69@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Easy enough not to read something if it bothers you. Personally not all that excited by GTA6 yet until it releases on PC anyway.

Yeah, unless it's a FitGirl release, I don't really give a shit.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 10 points 1 week ago

Bold of you to assume that the hype isn't going to continue after launch.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

When it's released you're going to hear about nothing but bugs and plot points and patches.

[–] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 week ago

If we go about the history of Rockstar games, I don't think we expect many bugs and such issues. If anything, people will complain about performance and graphics. And car handling. And woke. And woman.

[–] FluidBeef@quokk.au 7 points 1 week ago

I heard GTA6 broke its containment and tried to burn down a rival studio, but there was no-one there anyway due to mass layoffs.

[–] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Too bad Epstein isn't here to control the narrative with Bannon and make a bunch of ostracized, angry gamers get angry at games journalists and go vote for Trump again ans somehow call GTA6 woke ~~ (though some grifters were trying somehow lol)

Still wild to me that that was actually a thing. I only recently learned Steve Bannon was the CEO of a WoW gold farming and RMT company before he got involved with the "news" and the Trump campaign.

(This video was a decent watch imo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpHHSFF_CBY )

[–] sportsjorts@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago

Fuck that where is GTA7? Can I play it when I’m dead?

[–] heavy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

Live and let die I guess. This is an interesting case of what people's bubbles look like. I saw the thing on Netflix, don't think much of it, but I'm not in spaces where people think about this enough to put it in my face. Sorry that's not the case for you, I'm sure it's annoying, but I haven't seen it much, or I scroll past it I guess.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'm not interested in it, because it was written for a console, Sony, I think, and will be ported to PC by AI (you know it's true) which means we'll get the usual port drama, only worse.

Anyway, it's like GTA5, the only difference is one digit, big deal. It's like those footy games…

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 4 points 6 days ago

I mean I'm no GTA fanboy and probably won't get it (or if I do, much after it's released and goes on sale), but I don't think the comparison to FIFA is warranted, the last installment was released 13 years ago and the new one is sure to have a massive jump forward and will be a completely new game, whereas the footy games release every year without missing a beat with barely any updates besides the team rosters.

[–] Scrollone@feddit.it 6 points 1 week ago

I think they already have a PC version ready. It's probably the "real" version they developed first. But they're going to release the PC version later in order to get some sweet money from Sony and Microsoft.

[–] markz@suppo.fi 4 points 1 week ago

Me too. Thank's for making my day's first gta6 post.

[–] radiouser@crazypeople.online 4 points 1 week ago

I'm sick of it too but if you think the release will quieten the internet down I've got some bad news for you. Same thing happened with GTAV.
