Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Wonder how long until IOKIYAR gets applied to Hunter on this one.

Since we are talking about voting again and mail-in voting and early voting etc....

I have to laugh that one of the things that made cons so GRRRRR mad about voting in 2020 (besides people having access to mail-in voting during, a, AHEM, pandemic) was early voting. Because by the time their little scheme came along to try to ratfuck the 2020 election over the ~~hard drive~~, oops, I mean, "laptop", in many areas, some people already had the opportunity to vote.

Republicans were (and still are) furious about this. They felt cheated that their stupid little October surprise fizzled because platforms took steps to not spread the disinformation. But also, because voters had already voted, and so it blunted their bullshit's effects.

Republicans were mad that people don't have to stand in line on the very day of the election. Let that sink in. Republicans want YOU to be miserable.

Why not, if enough of those that teump hates does it maybe we will see some movement on laws against it. I hope Hunter Coin takes off.

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why not

Because, like most things Hunter has ever done, it's wrong. I don't want a version of MAGA for the left. The left should concede the award for biggest piece of shit; don't even compete for it.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Why would you think Hunter Biden is "left"?

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"To the left" of whatever MAGA is.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah that's a whole spectrum of people though. I just tire of people thinking everyone left of MAGA is going to work together towards common goals. Mike Bloomberg became a billionaire reminding the world that subscriptions are more profitable long term.

He was probably one of Democrats largest donors. Not for a second should people be thinking that what he wants lines up with what they want. Hunter Biden had familial obligations to be openly supportive of the democratic party. His job descriptions were venture capitalist, investor, and server on the board of a company selling fossil fuels overseas. Nothing about that screams that he wants the same things as I do.

They’ve probably been subjected to American politics since birth and don’t know any better

They aren't going to make laws against grifting. That's their bread and butter. They would double down with more of their own. And people will buy it, once again. Which, caveat emptor, and idiots will be idiots, but it's overall killing the economy and giving the rich even more money.

Hey nobody thought California would have gun control until the black Panthers started to open carry.

We're still doing meme coins? For some reason I thought we'd moved past that.

Have you seen my apes bro? They're gonna be worth so much bro.

[–] quantumcrop@lemmy.today 1 points 31 minutes ago

all my apes gone.

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 day ago

You jest, but my brother in law has grand plans for the millions he'll make on the crypto he bought years ago.

Any day now...

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Crypto market has started to see some recovery since it dumped beginning of last year.

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Can we just jump to the end of this meme coin idiocy and make one called "RugPullcoin™" then go through the inevitable run-up and short order liquidation leaving coin owners holding the bag?
