American farmers need it. Let’s use that dependence to fight back

100% export tax. Have been saying this since the beginning.

I think it's actually important that Canada has only responded in kind, not escalated. I think a lot of Americans are actually pro Canada, and keeping that outlook is valuable.

I think a lot of Americans are actually pro Canada, and keeping that outlook is valuable.

Is it valuable though? They can't even help themselves let alone us

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I don't have a good response to that.

[–] non_burglar@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

I think I might say this more often.

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

It just means they welcome you as rescuers once Canada reciprocates with the annexation attempt.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.ca 12 points 5 days ago

The typical American's response is irrelevant. The billionaires want Canada, so Trump will do what they want.

Stop selling it to GOP voters. Make customers vouch that they support democratic ideals. Publish their names so the ones that lie on the form get skewered by MAGA.

One of the three big comnpanies decided just to stop selling to the US, do not know if that has changed as I do not remember which one it was.

Trump statement: "We don't need COMMUNIST CANADIANA potash. Our great state of Idaho grows the best potashtoes in the WORLD. FREEDOM POTASHTOES. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

I mean, it would objectively be funny to hear them continue to scream how little they need Canada for anything in the midst of massive food shortages and crop failure.

[–] Ariselas@piefed.ca 12 points 6 days ago

It will be a great famine! the greatest famine. People come up to me and say "Mr President, no one has created a better famine than you" they say thank you mister president. And horrible Biden 5 years of 4 years of horrible policy, Biden let the criminals in, and we solved that.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 days ago

I hope you are not eating the fertilizer.

[–] Eric@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

All the other countries have inferior potassium!

[–] ArmchairAce1944@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 days ago

Canada has the best potassium!

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

And oil. And critical minerals. Apparently road salt too...

[–] definitemaybe@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Road salt shortages = deaths. That's not a political lever we should be pulling.

Well, plenty of lives depend on petroleum products, too. And you can use sand or similar to prevent icyness, as well, although you need more of it.

[–] lemmie689@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 6 days ago (2 children)

IMC Global owns the Sask potash mines, an American company. Not sure if that is a factor.

[–] vinceman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 5 days ago

Also, the Sask government are bunch of stupid fucking idiots. Source: live in Sask

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 6 points 6 days ago

Exactly. Canada is a country of chronic sellouts. While people buy this Elbows Out bullshit, we sell off anything to the US.

While Drug Fraud is doing this:

He's allowing this.

[–] bookmeat@fedinsfw.app 3 points 5 days ago

I think they already said this was 100% off the table

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Russia has more than we do, we have to hope that the US doesn't turn to them.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It is belerious that comes close to what Canada has, but Canada has the most.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago

We mine/export the most but their reserve is bigger.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Russian shipping is still under international embargo, isn't it?

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

The US enforces that, presumably they wouldn't enforce it against themselves.

[–] clanker_victim_555@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

International rules based...

Nah I can't finish that sentence without puking.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

The US enforces that

Despite the Americans frequent claim to be the world's police, they arent the only ones enforcing the embargo.

Other countries have navies and have detained Russian ships as well.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Which Navy will stand up to either with the backing on neither?

The list becomes much smaller, that's why nothing is done about American piracy.

Also the world police thing is just a military power projection. They don't want to be challenged so they take away country's need for an army.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 days ago

Which Navy will stand up to either with the backing on neither?

Just a reminder that Ukraine has done a lot of damage to Russian ships, despite not having their own navy.
