Full-contact boffer fighting. Feels good man. I can only imagine what the Buhurt loonies get out of it.

Primal screaming in an enclosed space, like an elevator

Masturbating

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 10 points 7 hours ago

Deep-chested, full-volume, belt-it-out singing. Especially if it's either super sad or very angry.

Weeding the yard, one grass plant at a time

[–] WhatsHerBucket@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

I had a neighbor who used a pair of scissors to cut his grass regularly. It wasn’t a big yard, maybe 12ft x 12ft, but he’d be out there all the time kneeling and trimming his grass.

One day I asked why he didn’t just use a mower, and he said it gives him a chance to get some time away from his wife lol

Haven’t thought of that dude in a long time.

Surfing. Especially by myself.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women!

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

I am once again reminded I lack an original thought

[–] thirdBreakfast@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

Same. Came here to drop this banger and I am gazumped by toast.

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

I mean, this is a quote from Conan the Barbarian, so it's not an original thought for toast.

I will admit I could be misunderstanding something though.

[–] ElChinchilla@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Buttery toast

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

Using it as a reference as a joke in this context was what I meant

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Sad sad songs.

Boulder to Birmingham

Red dirt girl

Nick Drake song Road because he did not find a road to take him home.

Dancing can, if I feel free enough. Like going out dancing someplace.

[–] ElChinchilla@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Toss in Deja entendu by brand new some time. If you want a sad album it is like a soul dredge.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Violence & Physical activity to the point of exhaustion.

Working a heavy bag or chopping firewood are great examples.

Eating good food.

And by good food, I mean food that is healthy for you and satisfying and novel enough that it causes the receptors in your brain to start firing off.

It's a rare treat to find a place that even offers that.

The last time I went to Portland I stumbled across a restaurant called kebab and had Egyptian chicken kusharia and it was so good that it made my entire week. I'm still thinking about that chicken kusharia and that was back in April.

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

too much effort, just get me a sliggy instead

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

My father always said, the ocean washes away all your sins. He meant that it helps get rid of a hangover, but I find that it helps in a lot of other ways too.

[–] StickyDango@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago

This definitely. Walking on a beach with nobody around does it for me.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

So. The thing is im kinda stoic in manner.

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds like we're in the same boat. But that's exactly why I'm asking.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 7 hours ago

yeah it was my round about way of saying I got nothing.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Listening to a really good album.

There’s a good chance my wife will find me crying over Everything Goes Numb tonight.

It’s been a fucking week.

[–] Tujio@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Oh man. Streetlight strikes some emotional chords that nobody else can reach for me. Somewhere in the Between is my personal favorite album, but Everything Goes Numb is also 100% amazing songs. Plus, I swear that every time I've seen them live I walk out thinking "that might have been the best fucking show I've ever been to."

Whatever you're going through, I hope you wake up in a better place in a better time.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Thanks sibling. It’s been a thousand tiny cuts this week but I’m holding on.

Both of those albums hold a ton of significance for me. I actually sang the song “Somewhere in the Between” as a lulllaby to my kid, but ETGN helped me through my other kid’s suicide attempt.

I’m glad to find someone who loves Streetlight like I do. If we haven’t met in the pit already, I hope we do soon.

(Assuming Tomas ever finishes the next album)

Riding a bike far into the woods.

Sex with my wife and fishing

[–] solrize@lemmy.ml 3 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Making up jokes about whatever the upsetting situation is.

[–] ElChinchilla@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

One of my favorite jokes of all time is "that'll frac." (Used to be in the oilfield) but saying it after something has failed catastrophically. Like a 2500 HP throwing a rod, or hoses exploding. I wish I could employ that strategy inwardly.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

This works well.

I love mocking billionaires in my YT videos, in part, because it is in fact cathartic.

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 3 points 10 hours ago

Watching "The Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller

Playing “I sank it!”

Take a rock, imbue it with the emotion, the essence of what’s bothering you… name it the thing that is causing you grief, and chuck it in the fucking lake.

[–] EntheoNaut@lemmy.ml 2 points 9 hours ago

Gardening.

Walking my dog.

Shooting my guns.

[–] disregardable@lemmy.zip 4 points 11 hours ago

sex. the end especially, when we are happy and cuddly.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 9 hours ago

Never discount what a good masturbation can do, or a nap. One after the other is even better.

If those don’t work and weather permits it, just going outside and watching nature is very cathartic for me. Not feeling trapped in an apartment or situation.

Making sense of disagreements with those I care about (even if it involves more arguing) and clearing the air/resetting the mood.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Singing (although depending on the mood and selection of songs, this may lead to crying).

Sex. Not masturbation, tho. If that ever leads to crying, they must've broke my dick.

[–] YaksDC@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago

Getting rid of stuff at the dump.
