A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

some people meeting a person for the first time, in class, or another friends, family or other friends immediately hate each other because they give off vibes they dont like?
You can't be in physical sports (you shouldn't be, period, but we all know those with no morals only regulate due to fear), and those who play a lot of online videogames tend to have antisocial tendencies and poor temper management so I guess it all fits. 4chan, at least a decade and a half ago when I used to frequent it, could get very nasty, lol.

People treat me like shit on these sites. Lemmy sure hates my autism despite there supposedly being a lot of autistic people on here. Self hated combined with projection, maybe?
Without trying to be rude, it's often seen as the more annoying of the neurodivergences (with good reasons) so it might just be that. It's sad though, and I'm sorry your experience hasn't been as nice as it could've been. Personally, I think self-descriptive tags like "male/female", "late teens-early 20s/mid 20s-early 30s", "Westerner/non Westerner", "atheist/spiritual - polytheist/monotheist", "moral relativist/moral objectivist", "neurotypical/neurodivergent", "tempered/erratic", etc. , would go a long way in understanding the person we're speaking to and keep things more civil.

No, that's more of a Reddit thing.
Lemmings have been much more reasonable and supportive in my experience, even kind.
Even when someone disagrees with me vehemently, they might use rude words to tell me just how full of shit my comment is, but they don't say "you should kill yourself" like redditors used to (before I left, who knows now that it's all bots).
I hope it stays that way. Anonymity can bring out cruelty, but it can also allow people to express themselves warmly without social posturing.
I've had the opposite experience.
Most common failure point seems to be people not actually reading my comment properly, and attacking me based on what they "think" I wrote; usually some polarised version that twists my meaning completely. Like in this example, imagine someone replying "so you're saying all Lemmy users are illiterate assholes?!?!" Then everyone agrees with them for some reason, it's pointless trying to clarify at that point.
I've stopped contributing as much because I can't be bothered dealing with the nuclear fallout anymore.

I do sometimes wonder if people see the 0, and that biases their opinion or something. More often I get confused replies wondering why my comment seems broken though 😂
I'm a retired programmer, so starting at 0 makes sense to me. I always thought it was weird that you "like" your own comments by default. I don't like them, I'm neutral towards them.
I used to do it on Reddit as well, but they disabled that feature. Unironically one of the reasons I left that place lol
Well I would defend your right to make your comments satisfy yourself with that nice round zero.
In rebuttal I would argue that, if it means anything, an upvote is supposed to signify "this comment deserves to be here," it contributes to the conversation.
In an election, if you don't want yourself to win enough to vote for yourself, you shouldn't be running. You should just let the other person have it if you think they'd do better.
But I'll grant you that since it's not an election, putting the comment out there is enough. And from what I can see yours all do add value.
