The Rules

Posts must be:

  1. Links to news stories from...
  2. ...credible sources, with...
  3. ...their original headlines, that...
  4. ...would make people who see the headline think, “That has got to be a story from The Onion, America’s Finest News Source.”

Comments must abide by the server rules for Lemmy.world and generally abstain from trollish, bigoted, or otherwise disruptive behavior that makes this community less fun for everyone.

And that’s basically it!

You can go here to see what it sounds like played on a more human time scale.

https://www.aslsp.org/das-projekt.html

This website has a listing of all changes in the piece from start to finish with dates and a recording for the chords that have already played!

We should broadcast it into space in the event that an alien lifeform that perceives time much slower than we do can make sense of it.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

Or an alien species on a similar timescale might pick it up and spend centuries debating the meaning. The changes would be big events. I'd love to be able to give others that kind of mystery.

Send a probe to proxima ceturai with some kind of tech to make the star itself pulse the signal so we can really broadcast it.
