Moscow Mitch should have been shown the door years ago, this system sucks. He and his friends have damaged America far more than any foreign enemy could ever hope to.

[–] GreenPlasticSushiGrass@kbin.social 13 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Hey, now! Moscow Mitch hates being called Moscow Mitch, so we probably shouldn't call him Moscow Mitch because the nickname Moscow Mitch might become popular again and that would upset Moscow Mitch on the day that Moscow Mitch announced that he's stepping down from Moscow Mitch's leadership role.

He prefers 'Cocaine Mitch' his previous moniker

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

He and his friends have damaged America with the aid of Putin.

[–] Waldowal@lemmy.world 40 points 8 months ago

The only thing I'll miss is that gag they always do on SNL Weekend Update where they show a picture of him smiling and say something like: "Mitch McConnell, shown here watching an orphanage burn down..."

Gets me every time.

“I love the Senate,” he said. “It has been my life. There may be more distinguished members of this body throughout our history, but I doubt there are any with more admiration for it.”

The blatant shamelessness is on-brand.

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Well it has been his life, he has been there for 40 years

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 10 points 8 months ago

And he has such admiration for it that he's spent those 40 years systematically destroying the principles on which it was founded.

I choose to read this headline as "record ruin"

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 12 points 8 months ago

He will have to float out of the chamber, because walking would require him to let a motion reach the floor.

[–] freedumb@programming.dev 10 points 8 months ago

In suspiciously timed and totally unrelated other news

[–] GlitzyArmrest@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago

To be clear, he'll still be in the senate, but at least he'll have less power.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 34 points 8 months ago (1 children)

We wish he didn't do anything.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

He prevented things from being done

[–] candybrie@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

He is a huge reason for the state of the courts. Which has done an unfortunate amount.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 5 points 8 months ago

He prevented Merrick Garland from being considered

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 9 points 8 months ago

He did plenty, but it was pretty much universally bad for humanity.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 3 points 8 months ago

He was evil, he was a hypocrite, he was many things, but he was quite effective.

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

The turtle people are calling him back home.

[–] mctoasterson@reddthat.com 3 points 8 months ago

Good ol' Cocaine Mitch

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

[–] Froyn@kbin.social 3 points 8 months ago

He's going to endorse a replacement Mack McCornell, spoiler alert, it's George Santos

[–] ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 3 points 8 months ago

What fresh bastard will replace him.

[–] UserMeNever@feddit.nl 2 points 8 months ago

rats... something... something....

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 months ago

Ok, see you in hell I guess.

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 1 points 8 months ago

The corpse won't stay upright for that long.

[–] Blackout@kbin.social 1 points 8 months ago

He's destroyed everything that was on his list and now has earned a long rest in hell. What a guy

[–] OldWoodFrame@lemm.ee 1 points 8 months ago

“I still have enough gas in the tank to thoroughly disappoint my critics and I intend to do so with all the enthusiasm which they have become accustomed.”

Haha. He's a horrible guy with terrible policies but even he can be funny sometimes. Good to think about every once in a while. Apparently Trump is charismatic one-on-one too. There's a reason these people are successful politicians.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

The timing is curious, particularly with Republicans likely to regain the Senate majority in the next Congress. But he has been openly working with Schumer on things, and it probably drives Trump nuts. He probably figures that if Trump wins, he doesn't want to have to kiss up to him again.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 11 points 8 months ago

Timing? .... the guy's about to die because his body is starting to decompose.

The biggest problem that American politicians have at this point is a finite lifespan.
