I can understand precautionary braces when playing a contact sport. I think every lineman wears one. But a precautionary brace for getting off a bus?

For three first round picks, the barometer should really be higher than simply one step above average.

There is a lot of revisionist history here. Baker Mayfield wasted some of the most talented Brown's rosters in modern football history. He was not the guy.

Flacco gets all of the credit but when Torrey Smith left that gravy train ended.

I think you hit on something that is glossed over too often. Lamar Jackson has an average group of receivers for the first time in his career. Not even on the same planet as the Eagles or the Bengals - just average. And he's shredding teams with his arm and legs.

There needs to be some consideration for that.

I have no doubt Burrow can keep up with Mahomes and Jackson for the rest of the year. But it wouldn't be enough because of the hole he put himself in for the month of September.

Burrow would need to blow Mahomes, Jackson, and Hurts away to win an MVP.

The word you're looking for is variance.

Josh Allen can bounce anywhere between completely unbeatable and singularly responsible for creating a loss, in the same month. Other quarterbacks can't peak like he can but they also don't tend to disintegrate the same way either.

I think we're all cheering for Baker Mayfield because he's the antithesis of Deshaun Watson. The more he wins the worse Cleveland looks for going with the rapist.

The man is on his 4th team in five years as a formal first overall pick though. He was a bust, and he wasted some extremely talented Browns rosters. They were right to move on from him, but wrong in who they chose to go with next.

You better be REALLY good to watch a guy run past you and expect your center, or your tight end, to chase them down instead.

Definitely a fall off. You expect regression from anyone who is in the MVP conversation the previous season. That's normal.

I didn't expect him to tumble this much though.
